So what do I see here? Yoshi's editor on the left and the remote PC on the right or vice versa?
And if I've seen right, both were placing blocks simultaniously? That's pretty darn impressive
I don't think it would be really necessary to both place blocks at the same time but driving it at the same time would be great. Also if the other one just could have a look around and bring in tips and ideas would already be a huge revlution

Wow!!!
That is already awesome!
First of all, thanks for all the replies, comments, new ideas!
I used the forum search before posting to see if such a topic already exists and those three I found were years old and for canyon

so that's why i opened it anyways with our thoughts on it

I think so too, might be better only one player is building at a time.
But anyways,

for yoshi's try and his work! Hope he keeps on working on it or we can maybe see such an awesome thing made by nadeo.

with real time chat system, we would like to pass through editor scripted manipulation or map state, so maybe it would be feasible through this channel, but I don't know.

This is teamviewer to show a distant computer and to prove that it's working.

The editor communicates with other editors (near infinite builders) through a TCP connection, ran via an external application. Maniaplanet communicates with this application through xml-rpc callbacks.
It is quite fast and works flawless block-based (in the latest version, the video is severely outdated).
I haven't got over serializing and deserializing terrain correctly yet, that bit's buggy.

Well, it was more a fun experiment and I never really thought people would use it because it still requires an external application and someone running a server for it.
Maybe soon(tm) I'll get onto it again.

I don't think many people care to use an external program. If it's easy done I for sure wouldn't mind.

If you could only make a version where I can invite someone only for chat and driving, would allready be enough for me. There's no real need to be able to place blocks or terrain at the same time.
