wtf rage dude, what's the big deal? it is an ALPHA feature, do you really want to redownload the lobby-compatible maniaplanet server every 5 minutes to apply changes because of small bugs? No you don't, let them test it with your help and soon you will be able to make an own server... geez

well no offence but i dont belive nadeo hotfixes in a 5 min window ;P
yet i like the lobby system as far as i could test it now ... when you want to vote it on your server its buggy since its overlappy to the ground soo design bug maybe...

Hi,
I just joined that test server and it worked. I got matched with 5 other players and we had a good match.
I have a stupid question tough: Why is matchmaking created? What is its purpose? What's the end goal?
Im asking this because I could have joined any other server and have a nice match as well.
So how is this matchmaking different to the regular servers? Why would anyone use this matchmaking and not the regular servers.
How does this matchmaking work? Is it vs a random team of players? Or does this system actually look at the rank of your enemies to get a good balance between the 2 competing teams etc.
Ty for your answer & greetz
Keep up the good work^^
PS : Im asking this so I can give better feedback once its finished.

Lobbies are useful (imho) to fit the same level players on the same server so you don't get (as an example) on a public server with 3 rank 100 pro players and others ranked 15000+ (which means they are newbies) The lobby matches will have a higher LP rating than normal servers... Lobby matches will also avoid boosting because you are set with random players
Lobbies are also very useful for team match making because you can select your ally friends (or team members) and practice against other teams (other friend group) and you are not separated with other unknown players
As a behaviour measure lobby matches also "slap"

and penalyze the players that ragequit and ruin matches (as a difference with normal servers) by avoiding them to join a lobby for x mins etc

Wow! this new feature is really really good!
Positive points:
- Rocket plays during the waiting time
- Finaly a lobby!
- Working very well, it connects very fast the players to the server
- Votes are blocked on the servers
- Servers are really good (as a french player)
- Bo1 (less give up)
- Beta3 without weapons selection
- The maps (keep the official mappool for the future main lobbies and maybe other more fun lobbies with other maps)
Negative points:
- F6 is not so obvious for many players
- Lags in the lobby (-> I'm sure when this system will be use 100% there will be many many lobbies per region, so no more lags)
- The maps (I played only Breach, maybe set up a map vote in the lobby)
- Max Round 6
- No groups, it'll be great to send invites to join a group during the lobby time
It looks like this feature will be mainly use for elite (no more public servers) and I think its really great (; !

Tell me more about the penalty? I did not know this.
Thx for the further information

Penalties are very simple for the moment. If you leave of give on a match, you can't play for a match 2 minutes. If you do it twice, it's 4 minutes, then 8, etc.

Ah! Good to know there is a x2 factor! Because 2 min is the time a match gets started :p
I get

when match ends because of quiters... I already got many penalty ideas to deal with them

This is really awesome!

Nobody likes quitters so Im happy that there is a penalty! 2minutes is maybe a lil too mild? But these details can be sorted out later I guess...
What about letting us choose the map? I know that there are more maps than players... but let us pick out of 2 or 3 maps or something. If 2 maps get the same amount of votes then just let 'the system' choose the map based on some randomize/toss() function.
Is it also true that once a lobbyserver is full you cant participate in the matchmaking?

So the number of players in the matchmaking is limited by the #slots of the lobbyserver?
If this is the case, than maybe you should add more lobbyservers based on skill. ( or ladderpoints, but I dont think the amount of LP tells you anything about skill. Dont use LP to determine skill.)
EDIT : I just saw its 66slots so thats cool. I'd suggest a goooood map for that waiting game. 66players, 2spawns... I honestly dont see that work.
Also just a friendly tip for Nadeo :
CSGO has a matchmaking system. And it really sucked in the beginning, but after a few months of work and tweaks its getting really good. Im not saying you should copy/paste, but they made a good system. That's all Im saying.
The cool thing is, the more you play matchmaking in CSGO, the more balanced the system gets.
The first matches you play are to decide your ranking. ( so in the beginning you might face good enemies, thus unbalanced matches ) After a couple of matches you get a rank and its always pretty accurate.

setup a good freaking config ...
like a choice in the lobby server cfg -> mr9, mappool etc
mr6 is not good.
so if you setup a lobby server that you can actually configure all that stuff via a config file instead of the buggy ingame menue ... wich you know is buggy.
sometimes you can vote stuff and it doesnt work.
also make the matches bo3 =) or have the choice for them to be made bo3 and that cool voting menue as a choice option.
everything in the server config.
example
Code: Select all
<matchformat> [0,1,2] </matchformat> #0 = bo1 1 bo3 2 bo5
<mapveto> [0,1] </mapveto> #0 on #1 off
<maxround> xx </maxround>
<tiebreaker> xx </tiebreaker>
and not via that buggy ass voting menue (you tested it right?

)
