Doing some kind of free version / demo of the game will do WONDERS for sales. People want to try before they buy, and just allowing free stadium users access to multiplayer and the white difficulty courses will go a long way. All the other game features like the editor and hosting servers and private multiplayer or whatever, keep those for the full version. This way, people who like the game and would have bought it anyway will buy it, and people who are dubious or unfamiliar with trackmania will check out the free version, be happy with it, and want to buy the full game.

Customers will throw money at you if you are nice to them. This is a universal constant.

you've been playing a free game for years, guys. And that liberty isn't even being stripped from you, you can continue to play TMNF. Or, you could actually support the game you've been paying nothing for for years. It's £8 for christ's sake.

I'm hoping this continues post-release. It's a good alternative to FreeZone that would encourage people to pay for the premium features.

He just finds weird that the same game that used to be free now isn't anymore.

TM2 is in no way a rework of any trackmania. The only improvements are graphics and new blocks (That I haven't seen yet).

Like you said, I'll just play the previous trackmanias. There's no point in paying 8€ just for graphics my pc can't even handle.

I expected much more from TM2. Overall it was disappointing.

You only complain but you don't tell what you really expected

TrackMania ² Stadium is a rework and not just a copy, if you would look closer at it you would see many modifications here and there. The new graphics are the major improvement, and it was necessary to change it to allow all new ManiaPlanet titles.
And that there are not too many new blocks in Stadium is normal, but also for this it is cheaper than a full new title.
There would have been no sense to directly reuse TMN without any change. First it would never have worked in ManiaPlanet engine, second it would have looked exactly as TMN. So this would have been really useless.

That your PC can't handle ManiaPlanet is not the fault of Nadeo, it is regular evolution on the game market.
And please don't forget it is still in beta phase.
So if you are really interested in theses games, and want help to improve,
then please post more intelligent messages and more concrete suggestions

I just have a different opinion.
I expected a ranking system that actually works, new game modes, improved customization (instead of paying points to use mods) and the landing bug/slowdown correction everyone wants.
As for the many modifications you say are here and there, maybe you can give me some examples.
Regarding your last sentence, I obviously wont respond to insults.

This is just normal I would say, everything else would be boring and exchangeable.

Thanks for the feedback
- The ranking system is currently being reworked, in favor of the new matchmaking system, which should ease the start of beginners, and be more fair in total.
- new game modes can be done, but Nadeo counts a lot on the community here.
Look at Canyon or ShootMania, there are already quite a few custom game modes.
- The improved customization has only started recently, with the creation and import of custom objects.
modding itself has not changed much but the new formats and new textures are a bit of a challenge.
It is more than fair that creators sell their work for a couple of planets. some will make their work for free on ManiaExchange, others will sell it, this is normal business.
- The landing "bug" was willingly not modified, as the other half of "everyone" is used to it and doesn't want it to be fixed. To handle this and other "bugs" is what makes good drivers and give them the little advantage over those who can't learn to deal with the pecularities of each individual game. This is perhaps not fair against newbies, but either they learn quickly, or they drive behind.
It was also like this with any other environment in TMUF.
Some players prefer Stadium, some prefer Bay, etc. No one is really perfect in all types.
If you are good on average, then you'll earn enough planets anyways.
sirlobito wrote:As for the many modifications you say are here and there, maybe you can give me some examples.
Just one example: the earlier blue border on both sides of the track is now a small glowing blue neon. Looks neat. The others you'll have to find out yourself, since this is also part of discovering new games
You can be sure someone will do a side-by-side comparison of the same map in TMN and in TM² Stadium soon, and latest then you will see.
In total there are much more small details everywhere, with the higher resolution objects and the textures.

Since you responded in fact I think there was no insult at all so we can forget about it? :thx:

it's great that nadeo kept the game intact regarding gameplay and feeling. that's the way it should be.

besides that, there actually IS a free version. you just have to pay € 9 for the premium features. doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. in the end, it was EXACTLY the same for TMNF with its freezone...

in short, keep it up nadeo, i'm definitely happy with this new stadium. ;)
