Sometimes people are simply misinformed. There's a lot of misinformation out there about TM2S in the interwebs. If we know something for certain, the best we can do is to correct them in a kind way and provide a source so they know the information is factual.
Hylis always tells us that it's important to express how we feel about a certain feature or problem and why we feel that way. It's not always best to try and tell our idea of how to fix it. The developers can act more on feelings. Sometimes to express those feelings, we have to express our dissatisfaction. On the flipside, I think it's also important to say what things we do like, and that's why I posted my recent "top 40 reasons I love TrackMania 2" post.
If I have one serious complaint, it isn't about Nadeo or about the game itself, it's about some posters here. To varying degrees of severity, I see people throw the wild accusation that Nadeo as developers are incompetent. Why? Because they're not doing something the way you think it should be done. It's a very selfish and immature attitude. And it only reflects negatively on the person who posts such things.
My request: Respect other players, respect the developers, and respect yourself. Life will go much better for you if you learn respect.
Another thing i also Think needs some thought is that even though this is the "English" part of the forum, English is for most people here, not their native language. For simplicity i do then Believe that many cut down on their natural variation of speech from from their native language into a "cut-down" English-version, giving the impression of a "harsh" or pure "negative" way of speaking.
Also, this forum is not heavy moderated. You see posts here that clearly belong in other parts of the forum, adding to the "general" confusion....

Pedal, heavy moderation is often not seen well and sometimes misunderstood, especially by the complainers
We try to sort out the posts into the different subforums, and if you want to help us a bit, please indicate wrong posts using the "report post" feature, very easy

TMarc, thank you for your reply and yes, i agree, Heavy moderation is a double-edged sword....

To me it all comes down to this:
It always seems Stadium vs Canyon, Stadium vs. 6 (beautifull) TMU environments, Stadium vs. Hylis, Stadium vs. Free, Stadium vs. Esports, Stadium vs. Have I forgotten anything?
Stadium players want Stadium and they will never care for any other environment if it's not Stadium.
So it's not "people complain about trackmania" but "stadium people complain about all what's not TMN(F)".

It's because the Canyon handling is worse than all of the previous envs (doriftuuu~) and handling is basically the main part of gameplay so it's important enough to complain about all the time!
For TM2 Stadium it's a bit harder to explain, but I think it might be because hardcore TMN players only care about the gameplay, not all the other useless (for when you just want to race) stuff that ManiaPlanet added for TM2S, and so TM2S is not an improvement for them. It's hard to see any improvement for people who just like to drive and compete, and since the interface is so terrible that even if there are some rumoured improvements (competitions system) no one can find them. And people who wanted to see more stuff in the Stadium env were disappointed too.
Also, misinformation is something that is not necessarily the community's fault, if the information we get is unclear, then it is difficult to be well informed. In the TM community I notice way too often that important information is only available in some forum post somewhere, and you are still expected to know about it when you post on the forum (i.e. people will be like "come on why do you ask, everyone knows that, see this post by Hylis in some offtopic thread from 2009")
And the game interface isn't very informative either, finding out how the ladder system works also involves a lot of forum searching

I think the main problem is that the idea behind maniaplanet is so big and so many things have been anounced and what we actualy have so far out of the package is so little ( compared to what is promised ) that we get a feeling of "when will it finaly be done" because we allready had this game in our heads for years.
I like canyon, I dont mind the drift gameplay as long as other envis will be more techy. But coming from TMU with 7 different envis and servers where you can play all 7 at the same time, it just got boring after 10 tracks. I am not a nations player who can play one enviroment for hours and hours. I need change.
That's why i will be back once aaaaaaaaaaall the promises and features are actualy in the game and playable. In 3-5 years probably

Maybe
in your opinion it's worse (it certainly is different), there are enough people who do like the Canyon handling...

Don't buy Rally then, it's all about Speed
Speed Speed! Not so much on the handling, however...
