SadZealot says it all basically about fluffyrockets. It is a problem since 1 fluffy rocket hit is 33% of an actual win in a game on Elite. Where the syncerror is doesn't matter. For the player it is still cheesy as hell and one of those things that get stuck and make them discard the game as bad netcode or buggy.
Same goes for shot through fence. Cheesy kills has no place in a serious esport title.
Please do not make a mistake and force penetrating laser in Elite. The nature of the intense action next to pole makes it so that there will be many really lame victories if you get penetrating laser. For the pole area gameplay it is a gamechanger and not for the good. It will just add to the feel of cheesyness and frustration.
Many times on open maps I've used teammates as cover or partial cover. That's all you have to cover yourself within 2 meters or so.
The FOV is imo a weird answer. Within any esport title it is a huge thing for players to discuss, test and know what good players are using for settings. To just discard and oversimplify it with an argument like that is just weird.
To just toss in a flag for spectators to follow players fov or not(use their own) would make the game more appealing for larger part of fps gamers out there on PC. Instead you alienate the players that want a certain feel to their game. Sure they might be a minority but then you could also take away the option to invert pitch on mouse.
If "..for spectator.." is the only reason it would be a bad one. I suspect it's a more timepreserving motivated choice. Changing the fov now might make your fovaltering stuff when sprinting break and in need of a whole overhaul.
I am one of those that easily would push fov 10~15 degrees higher. After all, it is like playing with blinders when you are used to ~100fov. To "get used to it" really doesn't come into it after you played games with higher fov for more then 10 years.
I answered it for the youtube video. I don't think it is clear the way I did it, but I still prefer to let the answer be published as intented.
Link? Why even have that Q in the post without actually linking to the answer.
