Do you have crashreports and logfiles? ;)

Nope, I'm sorry. No recent logs. Last crash log is from nearly a month ago and I'm very certain that within the last month there were at least 10 editor crashes, so it looks like MP crashes before being able to write to the log file. I Just tried starting MP with ManiaPlanet_logs.exe, but this file doesn't work everytime I execute it. I just return to my desktop. Double-clicking it again makes it work. And then I have to run around in the Stadium editor for a few hours, hoping that it'll crash.
Anyway, after my last post (and the crash) this afternoon, my son ran around in Stadium, including the editor building complete tracks for another 4 hours and it worked fine. No problems at all... :?

Are there other ways to get crash logs?

Ok. That's what I did, so no other way. There is in fact a crash log created today, but only after using ManiaPlanet_Logs.exe. However, there wasn't a crash at that time (only a minor update for SM which resetted most of my key bindings in TM). I just used it to start MP. I'll see what I can do. I stopped building tracks due to the crashes and lack of time. It's my son who spents hours and hours building and racing, so he gets the crashes. Unfortunately he won't be at my place for the next 10 days, so not much help from this side I'm afraid... :(

ok, thanks for the try, I think others might also encounter crashes, if this is not just due to your system (bad or different RAM or fragmented disk if it is not SSD).

Since running Windows 7 64 bits, my system is quite stable. Not that I'm saying that the crashes are 100% not caused by my system, but running my machine to the max pretty often, it just should occur in other applications too every once in a while. And that ain't. There are many days that ManiaPlanet is opened at daybreak and closed at the end of the day without a crash, but also whithout using the editor. It never ever crashes in solo mode. Always in the editor. I'll check my system though, in order to rule out other possible problems and I hope in the meanwhile somebody else with a little bit more time comes up with the solution or at least a clear reason...

Good to read some more details
It sounds like there is a memory leak in the editor or some (random?) pointer issue.
It mostly happens when placing a new block. For this, textures must be loaded, shaders must be calculated, etc.
But the developpers absolutely need more reproducible hints or they won't be able to track this easily.

The ManiaPlanet_Logs.exe I use is dated 28-02-2013 8:35. Every time I execute it, the first time it immediately closes. The second time it starts ok. Login in on my account triggers an optional ShootMania update with the size of appr. 11Mb. I install the update, let it restart ManiaPlanet and then most of my key bindings in TM are set back to default. Closing the program and execute it again brings me back to the optional ShootMania update. So I'm starting to wonder if I have the latest ManiaPlanet_logs.exe.

Where can I check this?

Thnx

Yes there are different versions around, you might want to try this one:

ManiaPlanet.exe Build 09/04/2013 22:14  ManiaPlanet_Logs.exe Build 10/04/2013 17:57

Thnx...

My ManiaPlanet.exe has build 12-04-13 18:57, but I guess that doesn't matter...
At least this Logs-version seems to respect my key bindings ;)

I'll let you know if I run into something...

Edit: First crash: Ran Stadium by executing MapniaPlanet_Logs.exe (build 10-04-13). Started the editor and openend a rather large map that my son build last week (without any problems though), fooled around with some blocks, added a bit here and there. Then I selected the entire map => cut => CTD. Unfortunately nothing is written to any log at all, unless I don't know where to look. In My ..\Documents\ManiaPlanet there is a folder LogCrash, but the most recent CrashLog is dated 21-04-13. It's the same file I related to in an earlier post in this topic. The one that was generated when I executed ManiaPlanet_Logs (the previous version dated 09-04-13) for the first time (when MP didn't crash).

Am I looking in the correct folder?

I'll do some more copy-cut/paste tests (in Canyon and Storm as well), although I think the only problem is that an instant memory full causes the CTD's. When I run low on/out of memory in other applications, my machine just becomes very slow and my harddisk goes crazy, so I dare to say my machine's memory is not causing these crashes.

Specs: AMD Phenom 9550 Quad Core 2,2 Ghz, 4Gb Ram, ATI Radeon HD 4600 1Gb + ATI Radeon HD 3200 1 Gb, Win 7 Ultimate 64.

Edit2: After this crash I started MP with ManiaPlanet.exe and a CrashLog WAS generated. Here it is:
