Those images look like 2:1. Typical textures have 2^x side lenghts, e.g. 512x256.

For clarification's sake, publishing voodooism works as follows:

* ManiaPub are for displaying banners on the Manialink homepage (when you click on the "Home" icon on the top left corner). You advertise your manialink with planets. For now the banner is not too visible, but in the future it will be improved to have more visible banner placements in the client, hence more audience reach.

* On the newsfeed where you have the 5 images on top, it displays the latest notification from all the manialinks, servers and buddies that the player has. The top 5 image are the latest 5 notifications containing a "media URL". To post a notification with media, just speficify the media URL field (can be JPG, PNG, DDS or even BIK video) (either on maniaflash, if you're manialink is hosted with maniaflash, or directly in the maniahome:manager manialink if you host your manialink yourself).

Bottom line advice would be:
* Make an ad for your manialink on ManiaPub so that people visit and hopefully bookmark it
* Make a notification with a nice media so that people who have bookmarked it see it in their news feed.
