To which server did you connect in the game for multiplayer? always the same?
Which game title are you using exactly?

Because there is one thing you should definitely be aware of:
With the new update, a new title was introduced, "TrackMania²" title, that combines all previously existing TrackMania² titles together (Canyon, Stadium and Valley).
This new title also features the possibility to have a server that switches between maps of the different titles Canyon, Stadium and Valley without need of exiting a title and restarting another one.
Additionally, Canyon and Valley tracks can now use also the cars of the other titles.

Now if you don't own all the three TM² titles, but if you're still joining such a "envi-mix" server (this is unfortunately possible at the moment), it will somehow throw you out at the change to a map your ManiaPlanet installation is not supporting.
They also have added a demo countdown, where you can play for some time on a track (20 minutes per title per day).
This might also cause a kick of a server then.
Agreed that this is not optimal now, and causes some frustration.

Besides this there are quite a few different other possible issues for the crashes some users are experiencing.
One of them is a mismatch of the server controller software (developped by Nadeo, but also different tools by the community) and the most actual version of the dedicated server software (only developpled by Nadeo).
Those issues are currently being investigated and successively fixed, but it takes time.

Some servers have issues with certain maps, this means the admins have to look into the server logs and see when players disconnected unattendedly, and try to pinpoint which map is bad, and then remove it from the list.

And another user reported that the usage of antialiasing was causing constant crashes (unconfirmed by others up to now).

The developpers actually know that it is a bit of a unlucky situation with the current update, but you can be sure that they will do everything possible to fix those crashes. It takes a bit since it is not always clear where the crashes are coming from.

Please be patient and don't get too angry :thx:

Thanks for the reply.
I am playing TM2 Stadium. I own Vally but not canyon.

I am playing on the same servers that I have been plaing on for a very long time! No different maps. I've tried loads of different graphics settings too. How do I get a crash log?

The problem is, sometimes I get 'this program has stopped working' box up and other times I just get kicked to desktop without any warning. When I actually do get to play one or two maps before getting kicked, there are always batches of people suddenly leaving the game - and that can't be just them quitting! They then log back in... I need my gaming fix that I have been getting from this game but I can't anymore.

Suppose I should re-install Grid2 until this is sorted :(

Crashlogs are normally saved in your ManiaPlanet documents, in the folder LogCrash.
Shorter logs you can directly paste here using the code-tags.

The CTD some also have experienced, as well as some stall (music still playing, even video background running, but no input possible anymore) and others strange issues.

On the other hand, if there are really batches of people "suddenly leaving" this rather points to a server related issue.
Please indicate the server name, and if possible contact it's admin (or ask eyebo, he might be able to establish the contact).

You could also reinstall ManiaPlanet and not apply the update, but this will sooner or later limit you to local play only, or even force an update.

do you always get the crash on mapchange, or it can be randomly in the race itself?

Same here.
Playing Stadium on various server. I noticed that when I play on LOLMAPS server that has rather short tracks, it crashes not so often. But I go on servers with long tracks, it crashes every damn minute. I don't know if it's relevant.
Also it crashes while racing, not between the maps. It's like: vroom, drive-drive-drive-drive-drive-drive-SUDDENLYDESKTOP.

No crashlogs are generated. :(

My specs:
Win7 64bit
Intel Core2Duo E8500
4GB RAM
GeForce GTS 250

I know I'm not the one that has this problem. More to tell, on lolmaps server it happened to about 8 people (including my friend) in the SAME MOMENT.

All of the above was never an issue before the infamous update. :(

Halp?

i got exactly the same problem, crashes while driving and sometimes at mapchange.

i already uninstalled and made a new install.

no crash logs generated.

i only play on the 4²0 crew fullspeed 80k server if that helps.

my system:

steam
intel i7-2600k
geforce gtx 580 (drivers are up to date (335.23 whql))
win7 64bit
16gb ram

e: played today for 1 hour, no crash. i think its map related. no map today with graphic glitches (but i think some maps got the traffic light flickering i dont remember for now sorry).
