This is about the future. We are all looking for longevity in the game. I want to think in the long term about with this purchase that will be supported and tested(perhaps by me in the beta ;) ) . I did pretty well with the MS Force Feedback Wheel. I got 9 years of use out of it. What I am really looking for is a list of tested and accepted hardware. I would really like to know what controllers the game developers are using.

As far as the controller goes, it should center. I am not sure that this is a game issue or a controller issue because I don't know enough about how the game will use and uses the device. As for Shootmania I am ADWS key and mouse user. It is a great way to go. Analog control in one hand and digital in the other. Perfect. A keyboard and mouse don't cost $300 either.

Try telling that to the man with a dinovo edge and darkfield microscopy mouse (so it works on glass ok) at home

I still think it's far too early to release a list of any kind of supported hardware, and in nadeo style they will ensure it's compatible with anything that can fit on your operating system (typically windows, for now at least? ^^)

The only reason a list of hardware controllers "may" come out .. is if they decide to impliment a "proper" forced feedback engine into the game, then least we may have a list of confirmed controllers to work with that feature.

The game will support anything with a steerable axis of buttons ultimately, so if you need a list there will only be one thing on it. and that will be:

"everything"

:D

On one hand it would be cool to be able to brake/accelerate analog, instead of on/off but on the other hand it would radically change gameplay and give people with joypads an advantage on keyboard players (although it should be harder to master)

You can already do this in TM using an analogue controller of your choice.

I have a friend who uses a Logitech Rumblepad with the left analogue stick for left and right, and the right analogue stick for accelleration and brake. The accelerate and break is not a binary switch when configured that way. I suspect people using wheels get the same benefits.

I play with an xbox (1) joypad and use the analog shoulderbuttons but they are on/off.
Maybe i do something wrong in the config...

I plan on playing TM 2 with a force feedback wheel. I really hope the game has true FFB support this time.

No, there is not.
You can accelerate or break using an analog control, but they are used as on/off at some position, not full analog (and that is wanted).
And actually on TM you can't specify separated analog controls for accelerate and break, so you can't accelerate and break at same time (so stadium drift and tms/nations air control are not really usable). To do it using analog controls the only way is using some workaround, using alternative drivers which redirect both to keys, and configuring those 2 keys in the game.
