It's your point of view. If I was an Obstacle competitor for example, the main event would be the Obstacle tournament for me ;) If I was a videomaker, I would find fun to take part into a video contest at the GA.

With the Mania Fan Zone, we want to have a place where players can have fun with what they really like in maniaplanet.
That's why if creative players come at the Gamers Assembly, we will run creative tournaments as well.

Yes Alinoa, but you forget the financial part ;)
Most gamers are kids ( not all ) and making the trip to GA just for a "FanZone" and paying income & transport & drinks etc? Nah. I consider this a secondary thing to do when the main-tournament isnt live and not for outsiders ( = people not participating in the main-tournament )

Alinoa or anyone else from Nadeo,

Can you tell me if the Canyon/Valley tournament is going through for 100%, without more reduction of the prizepool?
We (Belgium-Germany) don't want to drive for nothing or to hear that the tournament got cancelled.

Thanks!
Kind regards.

100%, without more reduction

It should have been with prize increase if many players, but it's all about learning, again. We are trying to take time to learn and improve as much. I hope that the free zone will offer cool challenges over the week end. Maybe a chase challenge can be cool ^_^

It's great to support other modes, but will it really have a positive effect? Look at all other shooters? They only support 1 game-mode. On top of that SM is a 3v3 game and most teams consist of 3 players. Ergo it makes no sense to start having 5n5 modes. We made a poll on facebook where over 100 players voted to change this to battlepro ( 3v3 ) or a 1n1 mode. Litterally 95% agreed. But did you listen, NADEO? Ofc not.

Lets ignore everything above and just look at battle & siege in ManiaPlanet:
1/2 active servers per day and that's it. The game had no competition whatsoever, ever. Maybe 5 siege cups on paragon and probably less for Battle.

Looking at the website we can see that 5 teams signed up ( in 4months!! ).... Why decide to keep the tournament?

So there should be a good reason to still keep this tournament, but what is it? What's the benefit? It wont miraculously save Siege & Battle. Dont get me wrong, I wish that these titles were active! I wish all Title Packs were active!

Imo, there is no benefit in keeping these 2 tournaments where 5 teams will be playing. You should have just added the prizemoney to Elite which would make your main-gamemode way more interesting.
And then you -nadeo/ga- should have organised a tournament for siege/battle in the ManiaFanZone with maybe some interesting prizes there ( goodies & a little cash )

I love that NADEO is still supporting tournaments and lans ( also my very own competition CPS so a big thank you for that), but I consider this another wasted oppertunity and a very weird decision by NADEO.

It even has a negative effect. For outsiders that dont know this game, it makes the game look inactive:
"wow only 5 teams, this game must be dead."

We wanted BattlePro or a solo mode like Joust, but you chose to ignore this information. :oops:

EDIT 1 :
Actually 4 teams signed up. Not 5. And on top of that its 3 teams of the same organisation. So 2 or 4 teams signed up for a €2000 event. 0% logic behind this decision.

EDIT 2 :
2/4 teams --> 2000€
40 teams ---> 4500€
Another example of logic

EDIT 3 :
This game has come to the point where every decision is crucial. We really cant afford to make wrong decisions anymore.

( yes im not happy with this , sorry. :shock: )

2000€ - 4 teams - Battle / Siege
4500€ - 40 teams - Elite

I just wanted NADEO to see this again, maybe someone will finally realize.

Alinoa ? Hylis ? (Or maybe an other of the NADEO team, it's same no ?) I think that novationx need answer. If you answer him, you talk to the entire SM community about your Marketing strategy. And I think that it will be benefict to you and to us if you, after ... 3 years almost, you write about the game future (esl closed ? Cmon...)

Well, since elite players couldn't participate in this anyways you'd have 4 teams with 3 players instead of 4 teams with 5. Wouldn't help to change from a gamemode with 3 active servers a day to one with 1 active server a month.

Sure, you could have a smaller tournament for these modes, but it's to late to change at this point imo.

It is much harder to find team of 5 players than 3 and for 1v1 you don't need to look for teammates. If they go for 3v3 or 1v1, there would be much more participants.
