Re: Disallow continent change...
How about having separate lp counter for each continent.
Re: Disallow continent change...
IP Based Locating?
Also : NADEO already explained ( somewhere on this forum ) that the different continents give you different LP because of this & this & this & this. It's a complex explanation, but it was logical.
I simply dont like how people can change their location 24/7 and why does it cost you LP?
LP = skill
LP != location
They should make it so that when you create your account you need to select your nationality and that's it. Unchangable or only changable under specific conditions.

Re: Disallow continent change...
There is a little sense to do a Global Ranking on Shootmania (at least, the issue is different on Trackmania) for several reasons:
And the continent change is authorized because a player can move on another continent (because of a new job, or simply left their country to live elsewhere, for example i have several french friends who now live in Canada or Japan, it would be weird to stuck them on the European ladder).
- Due to the ping, the players of an area can't really compete with players from others continent (for ex Americans vs Europeans or Europeans vs Asians) so it's make sense to check the rankings of the players that you can really beat
- The level of the players may also differ from a continent to another (like the Europeans are stronger than the Americans) so an European echelon 7 may be stronger than an American echelon 9

Re: Disallow continent change...
I'm not sure if you understand this topic, or maybe I'm wrong. But I think the problem is, that the most of them aren't Americans or Asians or [...]. The idea of this might be ok, if everyone would play "fair". But I believe the most them are still European guys with the wrong continent. Maybe if you have the time, you can check the connections (IP etc.) of these non European guys to confirm yourself, oh it's european from France, Germany, Poland etc.Cerovan wrote:There is a little sense to do a Global Ranking on Shootmania (at least, the issue is different on Trackmania) for several reasons:They are the most important reasons and i can confirm that there is a LP malus for the players who changes their continent (if they are Echelon 5 at least).

Re: Disallow continent change...
I understood the issue is about players that not living on continent where they aren't just to be higher ranked. Maybe we'll increase the malus when changing continent, i'll see with the related peoplekripkee wrote:I'm not sure if you understand this topic, or maybe I'm wrong.

Re: Disallow continent change...
A malus wont make a difference, ladder is very easy to climb (how many smurfs are e9 after 50 wins). The two only ways i see to stop this is making the ranking global or have an IP verification.
Global ranking is not such a bad idea, the reasons you explained having a separated ranking are pointless as there is no NA/Asian scene

It's better to think for the long term picture, not the short one.

About splitting ladders we can think as soon as we have 1000 active americans each day...
In TMF, and in early TM2 it was always a global ladder, and it worked good without having the unessesary issues as there are right now.
