But I agree with TMarc, this is nothing to make a big stink about.
I'm trying to take all the Trackmaster medals, and on many tracks there is a curve after 3 seconds that, if taked perfectly, it will leave you 0:00,20 from your time.
If you take it wrong you need to restart, and than you have to wait 4 seconds for take a curve after 3 seconds of gameplay.

Repeat this many an many times and you will see the problem, there is too much waste of time.
It should be like SuperMeatBoy, insta-restart, because you need to try and try again for every little curve for make the best time.

Perhaps they added this as forced pause, so you don't try the track and crisp frustrated on your controls ;)
But I already agreed that it is boring on long term - there should have been more variety with using different kind of start blocks.
Anyways it is only the campaign, so 5x10x4 tracks to drive, and there are / will be much many more online :pil

Nadeo had it right on TM2 and ShootMania, why that change of pace? It just for cosmetics (and the annoying countdown voices) and disturb the flow of the game.

Ubisoft know that as well. Look at Rayman Legends invaded levels (the time attacks), it's really fast and get you going again right after you restart for a new attempt. Surely, someone at Ubi would have made that same remark.

It's a skill game, which means you try and retry and retry, by essence of it.

I wrote about that annoying countdown but instead of answer I get funny comments. It always annoyed me, even in United.

i'd rather have no countdown personally since i have to wait for the car to speedup anyway, too bad about the chopper drop some of them takes longer than 5 seconds, i love how in the editor there is no countdown

Simply "Ready? Go!" will be enough.

Except when game freezes at start (ManiaPlanet more than Turbo) and you see only "1... Go!" or even "Go!" (yep, that happens sometime). So maybe this is why we have still that countdown.
