Or like every popular game these days, RNG gambling boxes with exclusive models or skins you can't rip. Kappa
Can't wait for the betting sites maniabets.com maniagambling.com
But in all seriousness, the game direly needs more players. The strong point of ManiaPlanet and Trackmania in the past is that it's player fuelled, but with the few people that still bother to login these days it has become a weakness.
There aren't enough people anymore logging in daily to make content for everyone to enjoy. Add in that some servers and sites have quite a strict quality standard and you'll have no useful new content. It's quite saddening as this game was way ahead of its time especially on competitive and creative grounds.
Some ideas from the top of my head would be:
- a complete reinvention of the Ui and getting rid of the strict segregation of titles/environments we currently have;
- more accessibility for community created content;
- more accessibility for tutorials so everyone can at least have a little bit of creative expression in the game (even if it's just a fancy nickname);
- advertisement! look for example at the many positive reviews steam shows! it's a good game so advertise it more!
After you have enough population it'd be time to make tools such as the action editor and maniascript more user friendly.
I may be wrong prioritizing new players over creative tools and smoothing out edges on said tools but the way I see it is that we need players to present our creations to before actually presenting. Holding a presentation in an empty auditorium is easier but useless.
