Re: New Track Editor
The video you saw was from E3 2010, not E3 2011. As was said before, Valley was put on the back burner in favor of releasing Canyon first.nekosilvertail wrote:I know, this thread is old, but i'm confused:
yesterday i saw the trackmania 2 e3 trailer, i looked like the track editor is like in tmnf and tmuf rectangular, but there is a trailer which shows the editor and there it is hexagonal. Is the editor trailer some kind of fake ? it showed some kind of vally environment ~

Re: New Track Editor
Yeah, but what about the editor? Is it hexagonal or not?!
Re: New Track Editor
Assuming the TM² editor is the same as the ShootMania editor, which by all indications we've seen... it is.... then this should answer your question:

That's the ShootMania environment called Storm.
Also, here's a shot of the TM² editor. The blocks are most definitely square.

Or are you referring to something else when you say hexagonal?
Edit: Okay, I just watched the TM2 Editor video from 2010 (this one) to see what you were talking about. The hexagonal is not hexagonal at all. The scenery looks hexagonal when placed, but the block sizes are actually still square. We have that right now if you open, for instance, the desert editor and make a 3x3 mesa. It ends up being hexagonal in shape if looked at from above, yet its still comprised of square blocks. It's just that the scenery knows how to form at the corners to make it look more natural instead of being perfectly square.
Again, this is probably all a moot point. That video was made over a year ago. The scenery may work completely different now in TM². It was reported in a magazine article that Hylis said they were no longer using the layered cake system for scenery. Somehow it's hard to understand that though, 'cause the screenshots I took of this latest trailer seem to indicate the scenery was layered. I guess we won't know for sure how that all works until we get our hands in the editor.

Re: New Track Editor
Okay...so I'm watching the 2010 editor video, and I'm seeing as Hylis builds a tunnel, it appears that the hill and the tunnel appear simultaneously...I'm thinking one of two things here: either this is a pre-rendered video simply for showcase purposes, or you can make a piece and the necessary hills will form around it. I'm SO hoping the latter is true...

Hylis confirmed this (somewhere), it's part of their new terraforming tools they developed.Trackmaniack wrote:or you can make a piece and the necessary hills will form around it. I'm SO hoping the latter is true...
