To answer OPs post first - A game don't need changes to last! it needs a solid gameplay.
Look at Counter-strike as an example.
The best example would be TMN/TMNF, I belive thats what have the largest playerbase of all TM games and is still going, you could argue it's because it's free, i highly doubt that however.

regarding the payment method and release method then i belive it's great.
They could have added it all together and made it cost 59$ like most new games nowdays.
However now we got to pick what we want and what we don't want.
You complain that you got a choice? :teub:

it is more every 4 months and maybe Valley will come before first QM environment

so, it would be around 8 months from there, but nothing is set in stone since the team is just working at it's best and we can accelerate things when we encounter a looping or something else on the road.

Over the last 8 years, there has been 7 environments of TrackMania. Which is slower than what we envision for the next environments. Even many people played stadium for 6 years now or even 3 years with only the demo of Desert (and maybe like 10 to 20 blocks onlys)

But I think that the most important is to keep in mind that players can do more and more thanks to the maniaplanet system, and that we will upgrade maniaplanet system through time. This two things combined should make us have the most diverse and evolving experience ever in TrackMania alone.

And off course, keep in mind is that Shootmania is so fun that it will occupy a lot of your time as well

FYI, about maniaplanet, I made a little interview here http://themaniablog.com/2011/08/29/inte ... ith-nadeo/

So if QM comes first, Valley is a year off?

I think the issue is with TMNF (great environment for free) and TMUF (7 environments for €30) people are spoiled. Of course compared to €60 for a crappy NFS/TDU2/other boilerplate racing game with dead multiplayer after 3 months your €20 for Canyon is still an amazing deal, but it's not perceived that way.

See, that's why I said "if all goes according to plan" in my earlier post ;)

Nice interview. I think that what you said about an evolving game experience might be the most important aspect. If ManiaScript really allows for creative freedom to a degree where you can create whole new game modes then this keeps the game from becoming boring for sure.
Unfortunately I'm not the type who likes ego-shooters so I'll patiently wait for Valley or QM. :)

Ok... then why complain about getting TM2 in small portions for a cheap price, insted of getting it all in 1 package deal for a more exspensive price ... ?

I can't see how that is bad?

I'm not saying "You're wrong!!!" i might not have thought about it the way you do :)

I don't see a problem in waiting 8 months for the next enviroment. With good, quality tracks and projects Canyon can have a very bright future and should hold the players for years and not just months

It'll have no problem holding players, at first I wasn't convinced by what players could do with the maps, but now, after 2 weeks and the new update with several new blocks, I raced on some fun tracks, even the freshly made concepts that used the new blocks are fun, I can't wait to see what the community will be able to make after they gain more experience and learn new things from the singleplayer Nadeo maps.

As for mods, I saw somebody ask about textures, you should check the forum ;) there's an amazing texture mod in the works.

My only problem with the game so far is the new update, I can't use the old TM custom cars (no more Lambo :(), the cars need to be ported or made especially for TM 2 from the start.
