(Moved from the puzzle 2 thread)
It's about time Nadeo put the damage back in

Now that the computers have caught up with their ideas, we'll see the unrestricted potential of the brains behind TM.

My thought is that the damage on the left-rear bumper comes from being rear-ended by another car, but in the craziness of TM, admittedly, that's not the only option. However, before there's a flurry of angry cries of "YOU RUINED TM" from certain members of the forum, let me point out two simple things. 1) Have you SEEN the trailers? If you look, in all the current videos out with TM2, there's no collisions. or collisions are off. You can see cars overlapping if you look at certain points. Secondly, if collisions do exist, you can be sure that it's the reason that TM2 has been delayed so much. Because Nadeo, if they have any logic at all, will want to meet these criteria with collisions:
1) The tracks/starting blocks are redesigned in order to accommodate a different style of play. (They're already doing that...some parts of Valley were WIIIDE)
2) On the cars themselves, the model no longer is simply a transparent "box", so to speak, with the model inside. (this is the current model in order to account for the quick and easy insertion of completely different models into one environment. So in order to have a functional damage map, they'd have to shrink the boundaries of the model to the actual 3D edges of the car. And do this algorithmically, because they simply couldn't predict every car model to be made on a TM2-Carpark.
3) With this new system in place, they would still have to be able to keep or improve upon the current level of moddability there is now, as that is what TM thrives upon.
So, looking at my points, it seems logical that TM was delayed--even if they're only implementing environmental collisions, there would still have to be a major retooling of how the computer and the game read the models. Which takes time. So props to Florent, Hylis, Nadeo, and all, and forget anyone who says otherwise!
BTW, if it does happen that TM gets a collision option, I can safely say that the only games I'll ever buy again will be those that come out of Nadeo's studios. Period.
