yep, I think so too, saw it somewhere aswell. because if custom skins were allowed, you could make an invisible model for example...

I don't think that's the issue, they could just disallow transparency in skins. It's more about recognizing team colors - a really colorful skin could make that hard. (I've also seen it in some reliable source that only the coat of arms will be customizable, it's a pretty big shield though)

Yup, all we need are custom skins or even models. If this happen, I will be colored as enemy team so I can troll people. Also, can't wait to play as huge Eiffel Tower for example. Seriously...
Even painted hats (or so called "miscellaneous") in Team Fortress 2 can be distracting. I saw once someone with green hat with green shoes. "That's ok, there's no green team", you could say. Indeed, there's no such team, but there is less blue/red color on the player model and it's harder to tell which team the player is from. Furthermore, that was a scout (scout is a small and very fast class).
I mean, I really would like to know without any problems if the player is from red or blue team. Especially if gameplay is fast.
But wth I wrote all that stuff? We all know Nadeo is smart enough not to allow us to play as a pink Eiffel Tower, don't we?

Well, that was a tidy piece of offtop, sorry about that.
Back to beta topic. I don't think there is need to have huge amount of beta testers. Not more than for Canyon. All maps will be easily created by community, so there no care about maps balance (and this is the thing that require many players to play in order to accumulate for example places where most people die). But sure, let's hope that everyone will be able to play it before release.
tl;dr:
We shouldn't be able to play as pink Eiffel Tower. We should easily tell if the player we look at is from red or blue team.
I think there's no need to have huge amount of beta testers.

Just for variation, you should be able to play as Male or Female character
Furthermore, I agree on the fact the allowing custom player models
would be a bad idea, as stated before.
