A lot have been said in here so far concerning this and that as people have different views on the matter.
My view or Bottom line for me is that without the restrictions when using the TM2Unlimiter i had tons of fun building maps, not only with building the 'raceline' it self with all the twists and turns, but also be creative when doing the scenery.
Now when i don't have the TM2Unlimiter to use any more, all that was fun in my view for this game has departed.
Currently without the TM2Unlimiter, Trackmania 2 Canyon is a dead game for me.
I wish someone would pick up the excellent work arc_ did with his TM2Unlimiter, maybe the best solution is that the Devs continue his work and release an updated TM2Unlimiter for all to download and use if they need it, just as arc_ did.
If this is possible i don't know, but i very much hope it is and may i add asap?
Btw i hope many of my tracks is a good showcase for what good can come from having the TM2Unlimiter to play with(link in my sig).

hy Falkers,
Yes, I can confirm to you! You can with Unlimiter excellent maps build. Your mixed tracks are a delight.
Your mix tracks are a great example to all here who are against this tool to convince them otherwise.
I think like you, when there will no more give a Unlimited function, TM² Canyon will be uninteresting for me too...

Two great examples indeed. You both make very good and decent mixed tracks.
It doesn't change my meaning on not having an
official unlimiter though.

ok I think all about Unlimiter and tracks built with it is said here but is Unlimiter really what we want???
I think not!
and that´s just because of the Problems it creates.
what we need is a better tool to create better maps that solves the Problems with the restrictions of the Editor
When I came to Play TM I was totally like: wow, this is great - so much freedom in a racing game!!!
but I actually was disappointed by the way the Canyon editor was developed
TM2 should have been better than it actually is and that for me not only means the Looks with better graphics
but the Editor itself should have been improved much more to free trackbuilders from some Limits
I´m not a fan of the unlimiter but it has definitely a right to exist to improve the trackbuilding experience
but an Editor that all trackbuilders want should give much more:
what I´d like were automaticly created blocks if you try to mix something as Long as the road isn´t affected,
well actually it´s allready done by the Editor
but why only with some Blocks and not for all or at least a big load more?
some blocks / combinations are still impossible / missing !!!
why?
Is it so hard to allow it or create new blocks? Nobody would actually Need an Unlimiter if everything was there right now to use!
Surely you must think about other things like compatibility and resource-friendlyness too but come on...

Nadeo is it so much trouble to make this tool for players???
Who will want will download and use it, who don't will not use it. If one person could do it why you can't????? Like you see there is ppl against and ppl that are for "yes". Most of ppl who are against don't want it to be build in to editor. So do it like Arc_ made it.
1. For ppl like me, who use blockmix a lot, it will be bringing back something that I don't have now, joy of building tracks.
2. For few ppl who like my tracks and tracks made by ppl like me (who was using unlimiter a lot) it will be also bring back a joy of driving few new tracks. (few ppl in my case, I'm not very popular author, but there are many good and popular authors that was using blockmix, like Falkers for example)
3. For ppl who are against, for most it will be not problem because it will not be in official editor. For rest, well, they don't need to play those horrible mixed tracks or place it on servers. Unlimiter was good till half of February and till this date it wasn't like: "omfg each track created is created with unlimiter and it's bad, bugged etc..."
So please Nadeo answer to my question. Is it so much trouble to make this tool for players???

For those who missed it on
page 2, Hylis comment about it:
Hylis wrote:the title of the topic is much less interesting than the discussion itself
We would like to work on it, but are working on other stuff at the moment. It means that we will probably do something for this one day, but we will do cooler stuff before. Haha, I am just provocating here

(
but I am serious, it is to cool)
From the
questions and answers topic:
Hylis wrote:serujio wrote:Quick question:
- Why not "unlimit" the track editor like TMUnlimiter does, and make this way of building tracks "official"?
if it is official, it has consequences:
- support of compatibility
- online official glitches, and bugs (with potential request to remove them) that would distruss the user
- official complexity for mappers who would feel obliged to use it to be at the level of others etc.
zarexz wrote:I fully understand what you are saying here but atleast things like this should be possible. That would already make a huge difference.

Hylis wrote:zarexz, this is a path that we are looking at indeed, but is still complex...
+1 for the Offical TM Unlimiter tool Option button

They have the SM and TM2 Stadium betas to manage, Canyon has still bugs to fix, and Valley is coming soon. At the moment i wouldn't doubt Nadeo is rushing to not have all those things made too late, thus maybe the works they can postpone should be postponed (including unlimiter), don't you think?

This is an interesting topic.
It took me a while to catch up on it. I've been offline for the last two weeks due to surgery and still on heavy pain killers, so sorry if any of any of this isn't very clear.
I think the realistic solution (kind of suggested several pages ago) is in the official editor to allow placement of blocks that may overlap other blocks if the polygons don't overlap (the main cause of flicker). There are many times I'd like to use something like two narrow road "S" curves side by side and can't even though the track its self doesn't overlap. Similar also to examples in earlier screen shots where track parts don't touch but the blocks overlap.
Then maybe as a separate mode maybe allow full mixing for those who want it but clearly mark the finished track as mixed. This could be selected from the menu where you choose the moods.

When started building tracks in Trackmania, they were really bad and awful and I feel sorry for the people who played them. Flickering isn't the only thing that makes a track looks bad, the scenery can make it just as ugly. This, having a TMUnlimiter editor won't really change anything, it will only be a more complex editor. The learning curve will be a little harder than the normal editor, but it won't really change too much. I fully support a better and *official* TMUnlimiter editor.
btw when this happens, can we have the ability to place dirt hills/dirt/grass/pools in the air, because that do I really need
WE NEED THIS
(btw, flickering can look cool,
for example in this track by golo he used it in a cool way, so no need to remove that)

what about an Unofficial Nadeo Unlimiter?
