As you saw in District 25 (a huge mx community map), the mapsize already exceeded the 1 MB limit (which was the multiplayer-combatible sizelimit), so it meant it couldn't be played online. Now the filelimit was raised to 2MB, making space for embedded blocks. Having a bigger map results in bigger filesizes. Even if the filelimit wouldn't be existent, other players with worse internet would have problems playing online, because they had do download approx. more than 20 s before having it downloaded (then try to calculate the map loading time etc. and you have 35-40s)
I see, but the block count and "displaycost" could be limited to the same amount you can do in the space available right now or is there more into it?
Many players (like me) (maybe even most of players??) are playing offline most of the time anyway so maybe the biger area could be enabled only for offline-only (excluding LAN perhaps) maps?
Online competetive play (like tight tech maps, using often only small area even from the space available now) is one thing, but having fun with experimenting/crazy/stunts/awesome stuff offline is another and there are RPG maps too
