Indeed. Freedom frightens. Keep safe the people behind boundaries, both mentally and physically, and thus protect them from their own fears. Well, i hope you understand the irony behind what i said...
The simple editor is just weak if you want to build a good map.
PapyChampy wrote:@ teroor : I pretty much agree with Banjee's reaction. I'd say that you have to think also to other players. You have to think about all the people that are not that well used to the game (unlike you, apparently), or even those who handle it for the very first time.
Nobody said people that can't manage such a complex tool should be prevented to use the editor, and nobody said this technology should be as spread as people would feel forced to make maps with it. See the mixmapping: it developped in the TM-Community but there are still lots of conventional maps, and it's happy!
More, if you want to design the tools for the dumbest and noobest guys ever, you should make as the oldschool games: no track editor, so that those who aren't able to create a map, even simple, are not frustrated.
PapyChampy wrote:Creativity without boundaries is just a waste of energy.
Boundaries serve only those who create them... The waste of energy is when you consume energy to erect a wall, and other guys consume as much energy to pass it. Except if you like the Middle Ages wars...
PapyChampy wrote:However, the game must keep its identity. And that's what I meant by saying that Gameplay/core blocks shouldn't be altered by such mods.
Could it alter the gameplay more than the so called enviromix in TMU? Although this tool will enable anybody to create ugly blocks that will not fit the Canyon Car's gameplay, clever people should not use them in their maps. And if you consider the subtelty of the gameplay as a core function of the game, you should already have been depressed by the poorness of the lol-maps in this field (but those maps are already the majority on the casual servers...)
PapyChampy wrote:About arc working more on the game than the creators : frankly, you don't have a clue about what Nadeo is working on at the moment. Clearly he did a good job and it can brighten the horizons of creative players. However, the work done by Nadeo may not be seen by players right now, but is really necessary for the incoming things/events.
You clearly got the point there. But one can wonder whether Nadeo was too ambitious or not. The strategy to make a big investment and need a lot of time to realease its fruits keep the players in uncertainty, and gives the picture of a lack of dynamism, or even of a lack of willingness to provide players what they expect. This picture may not be more than a picture, but it remains what one see from outside. Maybe it needs a good communication...

Then, nobody can talk and we all shut-up? (EDIT: I don't feel untitled to talk in the name of the community, it is actually not more than in the name of myself. But the thinking of the whole community is made of the thinking of its atoms)

This is what I wanted to voice. I am sorry if I turned this tread into an argument/flame thread, but lets stop this argument before it goes too far. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Your two last sentences just annihilate one another. If everyone is entitled to express his opinion, the talk should run as far as it can do. As far as i read, i don't see insults or hairy trolls. And controversy, as long as it's respectful and genuine, is a good way to stimulate the thinking. I don't see any problem there.
Edit: powned.
