Surely it's an all in one client and will just be a patch?
All titles/environments in ManiaPlanet are together in the same client. They are, however, separate at the same time. Each has its own solo campaign, multiplayer ladder, and its own multiplayer servers.

No environment requires another in order to be played. If you didn't buy Canyon, you can still opt to buy only Valley, or only Stadium. Or you can get all three.

I'm really starting to believe that you don't have to play all titles on the same server in order to have a single community of players. So much is shared between these environments. And sites like Mania Exchange means that the track building community shares a central site to share their tracks.

I play TrackMania United Forever, TrackMania 2 Canyon, and ShootMania Storm. I can't play them all at the same time. But I play all three with many of the same players.

I hope at some point multi-environment titles or something similar is created so that we can play multiple environments on a single server. But until then, it'll just be great to use the amazing tools in ManiaPlanet to build and drive in some new environments.

It's just one big confusing mess.

Just Call the game TrackMania 2 and have it all in one client and on the same servers and just have them as different environments like it should have been from the start. I've never known a game to split up environments... so weird, not like it is a different game.

ShootMania I can understand.

I dunno though I hate the whole ManiaPlanet thing, it's a confusing mess and the UI is so poor, so complex and takes so much effort to performance basic things and has the worst server browser ever. Seriously why split everything up by countries as default? Most people I know didn't even know this was the case and thought the game had no one playing because they didn't set it to world.

I don't understand who is in charge but they're missing out on sales by making it complex and a mess and it needs to be on steam, I'd rather it used Steamworks too.

I agree, first didn't figure it out, too. But I disagree, that the UI is poor and that the server browser is bad.
I suggest you explaining that problem to NADEO under the bugs section e.g. .

Steam is easy, but if I like a game (to play), then I take up all the effort (which is nothing) to buy that game. The payment is easy and fast, I've never had something to complain.
And since you're able to crack steam, a release on it would make them suffer. :roflol:

I totally disagree here! Splitting envis up makes sense to me and that's because not only Nadeo creates titles, but because they allow players to do that as well. Everyone can create their own TM² title with its own campaign, mod, even blocks. I think it would rather be "one big confusing mess" if every custom title would be in an all-in-one TM² title.

About the UI in general, server browser etc, you have a point, it definetely needs an overhaul.

I played on multi-environment servers for a long time in TMUF, so I definitely see the attraction in it. There's a level of diversity there that makes for a lot of fun. Plus, you never know which environment will be next, and that adds some excitement and mystery to online play. I also think it forces you to drive environments you might otherwise shy away from. In time, that environment may even become your favorite. I know this has happened to many players with Coast.

But one thing that you can't really deny. In TMUF many players have preferred single environment servers. Over the years I've seen many of the top servers be "Island only" or "Coast only", etc. And obviously the Nations servers were "Stadium only".

There seems to be a fairly large group of people who prefer environments being separated. I don't know if it's because they can focus on what they like best, or simply enjoy a more consistent experience. But the past holds undeniable truth that Nadeo is probably heading in the right direction with this idea of one environment per title.

I guess only time will tell if it was the right decision.

Hmmmm......
Sorry for the intrusion, now are about 8 months i don't play ManiaPlanet, and i just read this news on the web...
I also read the entire thread, and i agree with FrostBeule. (1st and 2nd page)

Who knows me, already knows what i'm going to say too...I TOLD YOU!!!
:pop:

Now to complete my predictions we must only wait Stadium become free, hmmmm, about April, i can bet :D.

I'm joking, Hylis don't take it bad. I know what mean the hard work to reborn, so i wish the best for Nadeo and for you.
(And i take the chance to say Happy Xmas to all the staff). :thx:

Maybe if Stadium will come back and i will see 120000 players online at least again, it will be a big success, and i will be happy to find again all my old TM friends.

While you know about the game I bet loads don't, have a free weekend on Steam and it's basically amazing advertising to the 5 million people who are on Steam at any one time during the peak, I mean how many people use Steam? Like 40 million? I'd much rather install through Steam, just something nice about clicking a button and there it is. Everytime I go back to TrackMania 2 I struggle to find the download link, like I struggle to find the account login lol.

I don't see why anyone would go "I like Stadium but I hate Canyon so I want them to be separate games" they're only backgrounds, pointless to the gameplay, only the track matters, not like none of the Canyon maps couldn't be in Stadium....

It would be like having a separate BF3 game for each DLC....... it just wouldn't work.

Your point sir, is rendered invalid.

I do agree with the idea that more players would be in ManiaPlanet if it were on Steam. But I think Nadeo is carving their own path. Games can be successful without Steam. Look at Minecraft, for instance. Over 8,000,000 accounts, just in the PC/Mac version alone.

ManiaPlanet is still very young. Nadeo has said all along that they want to start gradually with this new system, and slowly grow it, both in features, and number of players.
