Re: The Situation in ShootMania
Hello, since 5 years on the game, thanks to the discovery of leswc 2013, for me in Sm there is a big problem the pub, given a global life has sm through the big streamers by paying them as for other games . I think if they do that by paying streamers for the pub then think about the future of the game without streamers. By putting tournaments ranked competitions attractives (As fortnite example even if there are fewer people now but it is thanks to the arrival of the mode competition, the world remains) = to remain attractive in a game it is primordial. Because for me there is no esport in a game today the game died little by little (example PUBG) So please nadeo and ubisoft, you try for Tm but Sm it you raise it like that it will resume. You just have to take a risk like a lot of things in life. I hope deep down that you will try to allow this game to bounce in the right direction.
THANK YOU IF NADEO LETS THIS MESSAGE and understands that this is a simple reflection of a player who loves Sm even if he is dead

Re: The Situation in ShootMania
It's not true at all. Competitive is still a niche group of players in every game, pubg isn't dying because of lack of esport events, it's dying because of lackluster relevancy in challenging BR market. Bringing to viewers interesting esport show doesn't mean, they will buy the game to be on similar level. The great example is Darwin Project, an interesting and unique concept for BR game. They hosted a 100.000$ tournament for 10 big streamers, over 400 000 people watched this cup, only 400 people bought the game. Shootmania is old on all levels, You have archaic/clunky mechanics, boring and way too simplistic gamemode rotation for casual players, outdated visuals, no tutorials, no universe, no progression, nothing to be cared about. It was an empty project that was nicely asked to be filled by community creations, but hey, these era of multiplayer gaming died in 2008, people don't want mods in mp game, they want ranked matchmaking, levels, skins to unlock, seasonal major updates with new major content, fun goofy modes to play with friends. Shootmania was big back in 2012 only because there were competitions ran by Ubisoft, so ex quake/UT pros came to the game to win easy money and move to another game, sm was a forced esport title and they're marketing was very bad, people played open beta because it was free to try so...it says a lot why on release numbers dropped drastically, nothing for casuals, nothing for pros, just modding tools waiting to be used. There is no way Storm will resurect from the grave, at least they can go to drawing board and rework entire concept to bring something like TM Turbo, bring identity to the franchise and build relevancy to create new movement shooter.smet17 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2019, 17:35 for me in Sm there is a big problem the pub, given a global life has sm through the big streamers by paying them as for other games . Well said Torrent
I got the impression that most of the decision-makers of a develeoper studio think too linear "Mhmm I see lot's of big games who focus on esports. Let's create a big tournament and we instantly get a big playerbase!". This can be applied to everything else.
They think that they need to add more spices to the soup while forgetting the main ingredients like water, vegetables etc

Played with 15 players few weeks ago in a channel (royal squad if I remember correctly). My ping was insane but it was fun (for me at least
)

As a developer (unfortunately working with non-funny project) interaction with your community (or clients) happens everytime and without it I'd have no job.moimoi69 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2019, 09:47 Good morning, everyone,
I perceive your disappointment, but let us look to the future instead.
Yes, "Nadeo failed", but they're going to get their act together.
It will probably take time to do this, but as you can see, they are working on trackmania. They're trying to compete.
There are several streamers like zerator and domingo that make cups. For my part, I think that Trackmania²'s popularity will gradually increase, I feel that way.![]()

Finally, I think Shootmania will also increase in popularity, but it will take I think more time. However, for this to be the case, we would need more manpower and more exchanges with the community, us, the Shootmania players.![]()

For us, the Shootmania players, anger is growing, because we have the impression that you are not listening to us... Let's wait for the next updates to be sure of that!
We don't ask for anything complicated, we just need NADEO to interact with its community, on google doc for example, and we will answer you with great pleasure.![]()

To conclude, for some time now, we can notice that former players are coming back to the game as well as new players!
Yesterday there were 70 players in the afternoon it was rare but I think it's a sign.
I don't deal with clients directly.

Re: The Situation in ShootMania
The topic discussing this got locked, I want to comment on it.
Theres talk about Nadeo cant reveal anything.
Its marketing secret and things, but what happened?
Maniaplanet was official release.
Early discussion, trailers, videos, glimpses, pics.
It was big and it looked it was coming from big company.
Inside the company you might be busy, but outside theres no plan how you look now.
You should be one step ahead.
No need to print $ posters, or go door to door to promote.
Its internet era and internet is cheap. Text, image, video.
You can make yourself look big, or small, even when you stay the same
Its more about presentation than reality.
If you post JPG where alien 3D model walks, people will go crazy for 2months thinkin whats that.
You can be in hawaii sipping drink. It was just quick update to keep followers with you.
Zero budget 100kb screenshot can create as much buzz, and feeling of new as $$ magazine ad.
Even if you print $ posters, $ magazine ads, $ t-shirts, host $ events, but in the end people reads
everything from the web. You can save alot.
Its not about hazard forum replys "In few years we maybe do something".
Think Microsoft releasing new Windows in forum "maybe this or maybe not" -post way.
It lacks value and attention.
Its not about people just want to know what you do. You could reveal full catalog in one forum
post and leave. How boring that would be.
You can be active to follow. Bits and pieces. Plan.
If some feature gets changed in game that hasnt been even released. Who cares. Thats natural.
Ive seen pics of SM Cryo, and if it gets released I dont expect it to be anything ve seen in the pics.
Have some stuff to follow.
Think you do games for the world, not just for forum community.
You can look busy and still be exactly the same.
Internet is imaginary world. You can do anything you want.

Re: The Situation in ShootMania
I have no idea what you just said. In terms of "what happened", well I guess marketing direction changed. Ubisoft is probably currently more concerned about continued development than doing marketing. They probably prefer to do marketing when the game is in a "final" state so that people don't get false hopes of features that might be changed etc. But that's just my guess.
