sorry if it may sounds harsh in my last post, but i was angry when Nadeo said that this feature was canceled. And i'm even more angry seeing that with a 'simple' hack, the feature is here. It's not an insult or whatever like this but as an old 3D creator, i see this feature as the major improvement to the game, and i won't congratulate nadeo to have hidden it. :pop:

My only wish is that Hylis and his crew will see this hack as a sign that they should unleash the power of their game instead of letting hacks like this one do it

I think this tool has a long way to go before it irrevocably changes the way we all play the game. Let people play with it! Let them make custom blocks and explore the possibilities!

Lots of things have come before it that could have changed the way we play the game (and some did, usually for the better when used wisely). Bug mixes, blockmixing, envmix, rumpelbube's maniacity, and even custom car models themselves can change the perception of how we play. And of course environment mods perceptually change the way the game feels, and those are part of the game itself. Those of course all remain optional things to use. You can still do creative things without them. It's not required that you use them. But they also add a lot of possibilities to the game for those who wish to use them.

mpbc is no different. It's just another evolution in those types of things to allow people more creative freedom.

I probably won't use it in the near future, just like I don't build tracks outside the building area with unlimiter. I want my tracks to be playable on any server, and that's non-negotiable.

But I will keep an eye on this with keen interest to see what people come up with.

Lots of wise words in the posts this evening.

Didn't want to sound harsh or anything either.

its very nice to follow the conversation here ;) another example that Nadeo let the community create all this tool and dont try to avoid it

im a rpg player and to be honest rpg isnt that interesting in Canyon atm...but maybe with that tool, or with other environments :P but for the moment i really wonder if its possible to make custom blocks for Nations/United too with another tool or just with a modification of this one :)
im a total noob in scripting or however that tool is created, so maybe my question is dumb...

It''s just the feature of custom blocks was developed partially on ManiaPlanet but not finished.

I can't get it working :(
I tried to run it several times. I already created nice blocks in 3DS max, but mpbc won't run. It only shows the black windows command window for 0,01 sec, but simply does not do anything at all. :(
How can I fix this?

Drag the xml file to the mpbc and it should work and the files get in the output folder.

That's another reason I don't like Nadeo's "acquisition" by Ubisoft. Unless, strangely, it was Nadeo that set the release schedule themselves. :-? Did they? Because, well, maybe I'm alone in this, but I wouldn't have cared how long it took for Canyon to be released, or to be in beta, so long as it had all features...not that I'm dissatisfied with what there is now. And more will come--but I would have liked that "more" to come at launch, just not down the road.

Great job guys this is wonderful!!

Question though...in your opinion, how soon do you expect to see new maps with fundamental changes to the look and appearance of the environment as a result of this new tool? This month? in 2 months? 4? 6?

I hope we see some great maps soon. I really want to see a Sci-Fi looking map with outer space visuals. Will this tool make such a map possible?
