Then, after some time, we will look at the balance and work on it if required. Balance is important, but it depends on many things, like the time players use it and experience it before doing it.
"Why does it have to be imposed on us? I'd suggest either removing it from Elite completely, or at least making it customisable as before."
Because when it is an option, it does not help to go toward a way to balance it, a way to deeply find the best way to add this diversity to the gameplay, with balance in it. There is many ways to balance it, like time before a rocket can be blown, quantity of recharge when a laser hit a rocket, hitbox size of the rocket etc. And we will try to find the best one, with time. Your first day reaction tends to witness that you would unactivate the feature right from the first day. We are doing tests, and unfortunately, the Elite Exp tool was not used enough by players to tests various features and I understand them. You said it quite clearly when you say it takes time to adapt to the gameplay. Who would train a tournaement while trying to get deep in another gameplay in order to test it on the long run.
It is like on the progressive jump. I met someone unhappy at first with it and annoying me everyday to keep them now.
This is why, I wrote in the release notes "Progressive jump, for example, receive mixed feelings at first. We played internally tens of hours in order to know how it feels on longer run. I think it is worth to try it on a larger scale now, even if I know some players have issues with it."
We are in tests phase, to have a deeper knowledge in order to make a deeper game. If you want us to change only things that are 100% sure to satisfy 100% of players, then it is the same as saying to change nothing. On the walljump, some says that it should be only one time. Would you agree with them? I think we better wait and see a little.
So, let's take some time for testing it, balancing it at the best we can, and then see if we have a better game after than before on this. I think that it adds diversity, capacities to see great stuff happens.
