Once players will understand more and more what is Trackmania Turbo, I think things will get more and more clear around. Let's say we would have had this discussion with the Wii version? Would it not be crazy?
So you admit that the very main point of the game is to make a more "casual" and arcade version of the game, while ManiaPlanet one stays probably better customizing everything and competitive game? It's basically a spin-off with some differences, just like Wii edition was from TMU? In that case, despite kinda hating the idea of two almost similar PC games, it is very potential and surely gathers more interest among console players etc. For example stadium, map editor etc as they are now may be difficult for console, so a change is surely needed for it.

In the case that there is difference in physics between the games (environments have even different names so yeah they're basically not same) I suggest that you won't change current CanyonValleyStadium too much to keep them original. Ofc for example Valley might need some adjustment as (iirc) you said somewhere, but overall same anyway.

I'm sure it will get more clear when you have designed the game longer still etc. Thanks for being active here and saying as much as you can for now! :)

Hylis, I only have 2 questions: How will TMT benefit the TM2 community? Do you expect the TM2 community to grow and if so, why?

As a player who might just stay with TM2, right now these are the two most important questions I have  I don't want to come across as negative, I just want to make sure that TMT won't cause the TM community to get smaller :(

I was not talking at all of Trackmania Turbo 2 days ago, because some people were organizing the communication on it. And it still the same on various aspect of the game. So, it will have to wait a little.

Meanwhile, what I can say, is that if we need to be careful for a split, I see it as an addition as well, with best of both world: with Trackmania Turbo, you have a more finished but closed product, and with Maniaplanet, you are less finished place because always in evolution and more open (requiring a lot of specific work to let things open)

Wormii got it somehow ^_^

If its getting a playerboost from people that havent played before, it will eventually attract more people to TM2 as wel.
But its also very good financially i think. And from that, TM2 can also benefit of course !

Greetz,

So this means, "players" (read as "players" not "creators") are told: Sorry for making you pay for games that are not playable as there is no player base, but hey: here we have a new game that contains everything you paid before for, but it's all cool new and you will love it after you paid for it again.

Seriously, I don't get the joke. Maybe I will laugh about it in a few years.

zack11, I think TMT will bring to TM2 (in Maniaplanet) in many ways, but it's hard to answer without telling what the game are exactly. I made a playtest with people playing TMT last week. I watched them play for two days in a row  And from what I have seen, there was a potential for them to enjoy getting better, or sharing them with the friends on their console. Having people to play Trackmania, would it be on TM1, TMT or Maniaplanet is the best way to raise the awareness of the game and find the future great contributors of Maniaplanet. This is why I think that being positive and welcoming is really part of the process!

Tcq, you seems to ignore the advantage to have creators, hosters, map, car makers, modes for players! All these tools that we are working hard for are also for players.

Greetz,
Yep. Indeed.
I think, on long terms, it's not hurting MP, because they will always invest in the always evolving MP platform, which will be always interesting, and if not, it is after a few months, with new features in it.
And, indeed, put bread on table while investing in MP  .

Anyway, i will be wait to TM2 Lagoon, to download some Ferrari and drive around beautiful islands... Imagine title-pack with NFS physics and open-world map with instant events.

Thanks for communication, Hylis
