What do you think of, expect, want in Shootmania?

if the TM2 video from Paris is any indication of the landscape we will see in SM... then I'm in... sign me up to help with the beta testing for SM in 2011.

I wonder pretty much what kind of shooter shootmania is going to be =)
If the usage of the weapons will be easy like CoD (that would rock^^), challenging as in Battlefield or with it's own style, would interest me a lot. What I wonder is , if the environment can become destroyed with the weapons , but it isn't important to me , because I could live with both ;D!
Also I care if shootmania is based on a "soldier" game with real guns or like worms with the craziest invented weapons you could imagine ^^

I would expect that SM will be more "arcade" than realistic. Just as TM. Not too complicated and more orientated to fun.

I fear a lot of people are setting themselves up for "disappointment" by expecting this game to be some sort of Call of Duty clone.

I imagine it'll be rather far away from any FPS on the market, so trying to think or expect what the game will be like is somewhat in vain.

people talk of CoD BF and others. Honnestly, if these games are exactly what they want, they know how to find it

I wish we can do something more simple and even more fun for many people (but maybe not the hardcore CoD fans... or it would be like making TM for the hardcore I don't know what racing game fans)

that's nice to hear, hylis. i'd personally prefer SM to look a bit like TF2 or BFH as well. arcady, simple, to the point. nice to hear that you're probably heading for that direction.

also, a hardcore racing game... gran turismo maybe?!

I only got this 2 fps games , so I wasn't able to take comparison to other games
but well I prefer tmuf with it's never ending possibilities to both of these games , so I hope I'll prefer SM too!


@ hylis and bramble: I don't expect a clone of cod , the fact that this game is based on this editor system makes it already much more interesting to me ,while cod burns out after a while for being always the same. and if it's more "simple and fun" as you said I'd be happy too , because I'm quite bad at fps-games

we are not trying to make things different, but if these FPS would represent what we think is best mania spirit, we would not take time to make one (even with an editor)

there is one different game which still comes to my mind.
does a guess like quake3 might fit (I know this game only from school haha ). well ,let's wait and see what it is about
Quake3 is sth which pops up to my mind if I take care about the words "simple" and "fun to everybody "^^

all games are good
but if we wanted to make Quake 3, it would be strange. It is available and still supported. On Q3, players use often the same maps etc.

would you say that TF2, Q3, CoD and BF are the same? We hope that people can add SM to this list. But it is a great challenge. We are facing years of experience of great development teams. It may takes us a lot of time before entering this type of hall of fame, if we ever get into it.
