Same here. shootmania demo on Uplay is not downloadable. it just throughs an error at you.

yes ... i don't know why it does that the release day of trackmania lagoon

Absolutely the same problem for me. Uplay doesn't start the download of Shootmania demo at all.

How can i fix it ?
