How bout a Fake/real modes!? this applies to both vehicles, spawn points, and all of that stuff. Lets say there is a "real" mode where you can get your basic weapons and vehicls, tank, boat, etc. But how bout a "fake" mode Where you can play as aliens, or have plasma guns and UFO type vehicles. And another thought of mine is that in the servers, Importing can be turned on and off by specific server owner/super admin settings. Like if you had a nailbiting comp, imports would be "off". If its a funserver, or a relaxed server, there can be imports "on". You could always have a "real/nonimport" server, or a "fake/import" server for just having fun. Customization is key! This would allow more controlled customization. Consider it Nadeo!

So, i.e., you mean realistic vs. crazy? It's not necessarily "fake", per se, because there is a quite thriving sci-fi genre of games just like what you're talking about...

Hmm i'm expecting more of a "time splitters" type of game. it had a level editor aswell... i wonder why people think about COD and BF... those games have pretty big seemingly endless maps , while i think the maps will be more of an arena style (kinda like Q3 but less spacy and jumpy).

also teleports jump to my mind.. TM has crazy jumps and loops, SM has teleports or like those pads that push you in a direction maybe? probably not tho...

so my guess is , arena type of maps (big open maps would require a level editor that doesnt really work with the grid/block system really..?) and i hope you will have like dungeons and open field in the same map , like the TM envi's , you can have tunnels :)

Oh yeah, I'd like to launch a rocket in a dead-end tunnel^^
I think you could also do a big open map but if you leave the building area you should, like, get some kind of warning saying that you leave the battle zone... Or you can configure it in the editor which parts of the map are out of battle zone

What if you have big enough maps where you can have a city, and then the open fields around it? Well, maybe not a whole city...I don't know whose PC could handle that kind of deal...But perhaps maybe a few buildings on the edge of a town, with field around it? What I'm kinda lookin' for in SM is the ability to enter every building and turn it into your own battlefield...I mean, I don't know how huge a hit that'll be on a PC, but it's really frustrating to me when you see these beautiful worlds crafted in videogames, not just FPS's, but RPG's, too, so I guess this could apply to QM...but then half the buildings are "cut-outs", just -there-, with no other purpose. I'd like them -all- to be enterable, if that's possible...

Whatever way the game turns out, I really hope it is reminiscent of old school death match shooters (like Quake or Unreal Tournament), obviously not in terms of how the game is built up but in the type of weapons and speed/pace of the game. There are way too many "modern shooters" trying to look as realistic as possible while I have always thought that the old, bunnyhopping and rocketjumping sort of gameplay is the most fun and skillful.

I'm sure the game will be great either way ;)

The biggest problem of all current shooters (UT2k4+, Q3A,...) is that making maps for these games is quite complicated.

If anyone is able to solve this and provide us with a simpler editor, it's Nadeo. Their TM editor is awesome, and I hope their editor for SM will be similarly easy-to-use, yet powerful.

Some very easy, graphical editor of "actions" (be it elevators, rotating lights, blades, doors...) is also crucial. Map makers have to be able to define "This elevator goes from point A to point B in 5 seconds, waits for 3 seconds, then goes to C in 4 seconds, then waits for 3 seconds, ..." without having to know C++ or anything like that.

Because they now work with Ubisoft, i think will be similar to the Far Cry 2 editor (wich is very easy ;) )

The SM editor is also easy to use ;)
