Trackmaniak - I'd suggest PMing or emailing Nadeo (Hylis or someone) to explain why this could be seen as offensive in the States. I would just associate it with the 70s TV programme Dukes of Hazard, but living in Europe I am less aware of the cultural meaning in the US. I'm sure they will be able to redesign before it goes gold if you make a good enough case, assuming this is a release copy car.
And I'm sure tcq meant no offense - as I say, the flag just doesn't have the same racist connotations over here. In fact, in the UK, some people find our flag (the Union Jack) racist...

Re: The worlds First Tournament in Trackmania 2
As a fellow Yankee, I find this an unreasonable emotional distress for something that barely, barely looks like a Confederate flag. All crossing lines with stars or other designs in them does not equate to racism.Trackmaniack wrote:<_< Now wait a minute. I'm not "offended by everything," TCQ, I'm offended by -this-. And it may be "just a car skin" to you, but it's a little bit of a deal to me. Much like you (and nobody, I would hope) wants pictures of giant penises on car skins because it's offensive, this is a little offensive to me. Understand and accept that, rather than jumping on me for overreacting. It's a confederate-flag lookalike, whether it was intentional or not. I can draw 8==D on a car or an emoticon and say it's a guy with sunglasses on his head, or a dude with a long nose, but everyone knows what it really is.
If it were an actual Confederate flag, or heck even the same colors, you might have a leg to stand on. Otherwise, it sounds like you are trying to be irrationally offended (by people very unlikely even aware of the Confederate flag or its insinuations).

All right. I won't blow things out of proportion--but have you seen a confederate flag lately? Look here, and then compare that with the hood of the car. You can get a really good view of it around 3:40 in the video I linked earlier. Pretty close. It's a simple change to make that something different--heck, I can re-paint the design if you guys want. The only way this could be construed to not be a Confederate flag (and most likely Dukes of Hazzard imagery, but my point still stands), is that if the white things on the blue bars were dots instead of stars, or some other shape. This isn't irrational, especially if this is one of the mainstay cars of Nadeo for release--it's going to piss off a lot of people, not just one minority who happens to be rather vocal in the forums.

I took the comment, and it was more fantasy skinning than wanting to depict some ideas, off course
it will be out of the versions released, would it be beta or later
and thanks Trackmaniack for being careful

Hylis, I agree, The Trackmania Tournaments are the best! You and the mania planet team are doing a perfect job!Hylis wrote:Kalle "Frostbeule" Moertlund Videkull,
This event is made to promote a game. The most elegant way to do it at the Dreamhack is to make a competition. Maybe you can see this simply as a way to have fun.
It is obvious that there will be competitions on the upcoming ManiaPlanet. You are avoiding to accept that and this is counter productive. Start to think how to make everything work well altogether instead of threatening of shitstorm or that we are doing madness. The more you are going to say this, the less we may support you, take this for granted. It is also obvious.
But since I saw you write this
"the esports community mainly consists of very young people with very low morals. "
I can't see why you still participate and how you can have good time with other players
Relax, enjoy and be more constructive,

Re: The worlds First Tournament in Trackmania 2
I rly dont understand why there were so useless maps on the tournament
its about tech in comp, not doing 3 turns fs and do a jump into the finish O_o (let the luck decide
) and that even with pricemoney
Why it was played in the worst tm mode...? Nobody enjoys the cupsystem , its kinda...( i think there are topics about it so ... )
and i had a nice laugh when he said :this is now a harder map, there are now some technical parts like a wallride... (its not 1to1 syncro)
anyway, game isnt looking bad, i will buy it and i already forced my friends to buy it too on release
i dont rly like to quote people but... :
lol u probably never played any tms/tm league (hello ET), cause if u play div1-3 level u need hard train and serious skills
so sure there are pgms in tmuf! its just that they dont like to play with the stupid ESL! so its not that public ^^
and about the steering...
a lot of experienced racing drivers LOVE to play with a wheel kinda control, not the nationstyle control -.- thats the biggest fault for me ever in a racing game... like i would play still in 90´s with my SNES! its all about steeringcontrol in modern racing...
so dont dissappoint me on tm2 with the controls dear NADEO
we need a new rally ^^
anyway tmn lovers, i can say ya for sure that tmn will still exist , the community is so huge, its still freee, there will be forever competitions ^^

The TM2 will become next Progaming game ? I must to disappoint you Florent, TM2 wont be. You can see it on the TMuF. Why this is not the progaming game but tmnf is ? Because there is one env, it WAS free and it has good kind of steering.

@dengel. You have to remember that this was no serious pro-comp. It was a fun promotion tournament. Ofc sponsored players could enter aswell as a total noob. I wasnt the only one surprised by cash money prize, but Dreamhack has a say in this and nadeo dont i guess.
We tried harder maps at the booth but people left when they could not finnish the maps. Making a more serious mapselection would have taken the fun out of it for the audience i believe, and there are hardly any maps in the aplha version, there are only nadeostyle tracks and to me none of them suits a serious race. Wich in anyway this wasnt. Merly a fun for all tournament... Or rather a promotion tournament wich should not be compared to either tmu or tmn competitions.
edit: But i agree with you, theese kinds of maps are not for serious racing

Easy to complete, hard to master. THIS is a tech map.breach wrote:We tried harder maps at the booth but people left when they could not finnish the maps.

Anyway, your line of arguments makes sense. Huge crashing jumps are allways more spectacular than hairpins. ^^

Regardless of the map type, the competition is is in the opponents hands! Something you could all do with remembering
Also regarding "Serious" & "Fun" this is also in the eye of the beholder, generally if it's "your kind of track", you will treat it "seriously" and in that process, have "fun" ...So cut the judgmental selfish opinions eh?
As long as you do what you want, and have fun, you should really care less about what others find fun and/or serious
