Hello,

I tried out the Royal(exp) mode for shootmania storm beta 2 several times now. I think I have some valuable feedback:

1- Though the ui of the level-up / spending xp points screen is very simplistic, it is far from being modern and - most important - intuitive. Will a professional UI-designer look over this or is this as it should be for the final version?
Here are the major issues with that:
a - functional buttons don't look anywhat near buttons like users are used to. they should clearly stand out
b - progress bars look nearly the same like buttons
c - some buttons are just like hyperlinks, even if they will do heavy differences when activated (like the "rebirth" function)
d - the fact that you were reborn two or three times is merely displayed by a tiny number instead of a big display of what you as a player have gone through allready (i would be thinking of a graphical display in terms of mabye the whole window should be displayed in different colors depending of a players rebirth count)

Because of these major ui-issues the user-experience is very much downgraded and I really hope that a ui-designer will revamp this thing entirely. How big is the chance of this happening?

2 - the offzone: Its cool that you go with the "storm" theme, but this new offzone thats looking like a hurricane has a major issue: You can't tell when you will be killed by it and when not. Also, touching a wall of energy (like the previous offzone) and being killed by that makes a whole lot of sense, but not if you just get close to wind thats moving as slow as this, don't you think so?

I would really appreciate answers to the questions i stated here and I hope I did some good here :)

+1 and why not limited the wall jump 1 rebound , for restrict the output maps .

I dont like lvls in royal.
How am i supposed to fight against one with 10+ rebirths? Each time i rejoin again?
But i like that i can adjust my character, i want this feature to stay.

Thinking as a Shootmania Elite player:
Listen at all the community of the Elite mode of Shootmania.
A lot of us want to bring back Elite to the original state or, atleast, delete some of the new changes made by nadeo.
For example: Rail that destroys rockets, very annoying or the new speed of the rockets.
In my opinion beta 2 is cool for the Storm or the Royal mode but in a competitive mode like Elite these changes didn't improve its gameplay, as a matter of fact the beta 2 has harmed it.
I'm no one to tell you to change the things on the Elite mode but if all the community of the Elite mode of Shootmania will contest these changes i beg you to listen to us.

Elite EXP title has the old gameplay, for those who MUST have it back for competitions and such.

It'd be nice if people tried to get used to the new gameplay though of course. ;)

Hey,

Wanted to play some SM when suddenly Beta 2 was released.
My problem now is that i keep getting an error at 18% of the download.

ERROR:

Code: Select all

Download or update of ShootMania.exe failed.
Unable to contact the server. Cannot connect to the server (12002).
Sup with that?

This royal Exp XP system is a really good idea but should be transformed into something way more balanced by resetting player stats every match (and not every round)

About the rocket bounce, I find it nice but I guess some gamemodes deserver a shorter charge time.
6 Seconds is great for melee and battle for example. But Elite probably deserve a 4.5s charge, and Joust a 3s charge as these gamemodes could become very interesting and challenging.

Also, as the rocket denial exists now in Elite, it gives an advantage to the attacker. This could balanced by decreasing charge shot time.
