What's wrong?

You say "turned", did that means that bell model has been visible in tm before you change it?
if not, then try to check the units size and positioning, you can try to put your bell together with rabbit model with same material as rabbit, then delete the rabbit and export.

i just read the manual for the first time, from what i understand we must use custom dds.

isn't it possible to affect textures from the game ? it would be better in term of disk space :pil

i'm trying to understand all the system in order to put something open enough on maniapark for these custom blocks :-)

The bell which arc provided worked, as long as I do not open/edit/export etc. using Blender. If I use his original 3ds file it works exactly how it should work.
Something goes wrong inside of blender I'm afraid.

EDIT: Random 3DS file I downloaded from the internet also works.

EDIT: If you have time, please check what's wrong with this file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7795439/tm2/pole.3ds. <3

+1
It would be also very useful for mods. For example, dunes or rock, would change with the mod and it will be more coherent.

For people who want to design blocks based on existing geometry in TM2 may I recommend this piece of free software:

3D Ripper DX

This tool runs in the background while you play TM2. Keyboard shortcuts can be used to capture snapshots of the geometry that is currently visible. This can then be imported into 3d modelling software like 3D Studio Max.

You can use this if you want to match new blocks to existing track pieces or terrain.

Dang, now I really want to mess with this, even though I'm absolute crud at things like this! Haha!!

Only if i had time and an original TM2 (wich i plan on buying) i would import some of the Portal 2 geometry.

Or, can someone do that, just to see how the cubes look ingame?

Hm, 3D Ripper looks very useful

It will help me to get started at making sequences using 3ds max, but it going to take me even more time...
