just get used to jumping, and learn to use it when necessary.

You didn't play a fast paced shooter before, did you? If you had, you'd know that it is not hard and that a jumping person is always an easy target, even with 35% aircontrol (which is default in UT2004 for example).
And yes, I complained and explained (in the other thread) why I think that the current SM-ovement isn't very good and will keep player numbers lower than they could be. That's what a suggestion forum is for during the beta of a game. Please, remember that for future posts, thank you.

I agree on almost no way to evade decent rail shot while being mid-air.

What if spending energy in the air granted increased air control? Means jumping still has some of the drawbacks of being a bit of an easy target, but it's usable in situations which really require it.
Just a thought.

I use it even in close-range fights, for dashing.
Albeit very rare and the move has high death chance for the executor.
