Re: Checkpoint "signals"
[ the discussion turned out about cutters, but that was not my idea, just an additional stat during the races ]

Re: Checkpoint "signals"
about the checkpoint signals thing, i think it is a fine idea unless it blocks my view while driving. nothing is more aggravating that crashing because there was words of number all over your screen and you could not see.

Oh yeah, I feel you there, man. One game I really liked, and then was really disappointed in was the new NFS:Hot Pursuit. For many reasons, but one of them was that there was irremovable text all over the screen in the online mode. ALL THE TIME. <_<

Re: Checkpoint "signals"
While I think that showing speed is a fanciful idea for some, mainly perhaps in a fullspeed track, seeing the times at a CP should tell you all you need to know as if you are going faster your time should reflect that. I personally have found no need to know my speed at CP locations and would find a feature like this a waste of screen real estate, and quite honestly, the times I would like to know a speed are in locations where CPs cannot be found
In response to Insomnia- having a speed meter could be a double edged sword where you incorrectly identify a racer as a cutter in place where a slower speed at a CP may be beneficial. Now as you learn about the ins and outs of a track this may be less of an issue, but I also think that unusual CP times should tell you all you need to know (in that sense). Maybe I do not fully understand the officiating of competition, and there are aspects of this I do not know
