It would be nice if something would be possible that only the updating files get transfered to each server user (or maybe as meant before, that all users get the serverfiles from one folder, and it is without any user changeable things, scripts, maps).
I have run tmfserver.com (tm forever servers for rent) for allmost 4 years.
And i can tell you, you have to make all servers independant. Allthough you
have an option in directory layout to run from one gameserver, it will have
to be an update all-at-once.
Yes updating all independant is more work, but you just cant kill a server
from a customer with 30 players on it lol

For easy management i would suggest you take a look at nouse-tools pack.
Orginally made for trackmania. excellent adjustable for maniaplanet

It's not the way a deb package work, sorry :?

I may do another package (something like maniaplanet-server-scripts) that provide scripts to update the server given the install path.
Something like

Code: Select all

./maniaplanet-server update ~/server
and the brand new server is installed there.

Stay tuned ;)

It's the time to test this feature :)

FYI, this part cannot work :

Code: Select all

sudo echo "deb http://static.maniaplanet.com/repository any main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list
>> redirection is made by the user with no root permissions :?
