I think that you over estimate the number of joysticks.
After, it depends if we speak about pure nations players or multi-enviros tmf players, and regular or casual players.
For casual pure nations ones, i think more 8 or 9 out of 10 use keyboard. For regular tmf players i think that at least 5 or 6 out of 10 use a pad...

Well with that crappy ps2 wheel you would be better off with a gamepad.

even my momo which has very basic settings only, (cant even change the steering lock without editing the xnfg) you can still tick a box to enable the centering spring in games that dont use it. Cuz the spring is in your wheel, not the game . As for why the 360 pad doesn't rumble, its not designed to be used with ff.

i was indeed talking about tm united, since that's where i'm from.

with nations added, i think 9 out of 10 drive with kb, indeed.

For the topic starter: what input settings do you have in-game? I recommend keeping dead zone at 0 if that's not the case yet, you'll get a lot more precision. And as much as I don't like gamepads (can only play decently with a joystick), I do think that one can reach the top level with that controller.

As for wheel, it really isn't the best option for TM, unless you play only rally and island environments.

That would be cool to have a competition with only wheel player on a nadeo track.
The video must show your screen and your hands on the wheel when playing the track.

prize = the honour to best on wheels ^^

i would like to make a feature that help determines if player are using wheel, pad or keyboard, to enable competitions between them.

Heh, we just had a discussion about that in the cmc IRC. would be a cool feature, but don't forget about joystick!
As for the controller discussion, I'm good at tmu and second what Slig said.

I support the idea of identifying the control device of a player.
Forgot10: I recommend keeping dead zone at 0 if that's not the case yet, you'll get a lot more precision.
With my joystick (Logitech Extreme3DPRO) I'm only able to get the dead zone down 0.1. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of a wheel or joystick that centers with a dead zone of zero?

An operator needs a device that relays the information of |device centered| especially coming in and out of turns in order for the operator's eyes to verify |on screen| position and direction of the vehicle to then input left or right and to what degree. +/- acceleration

Is the expression accurate?
