okay should i use the ManiaPlanetServer.exe or the RunSrvSM.bat? and ill see if its up

Use the RunSrvSm.bat because it has the command-line switches to run ManiaPlanetServer.exe with.

alright well i cant see it and yeah i do run it on the same computer. if it would show up if it was hosted on another computer that is okay cause i can just move it do my brothers place and change the settings. now that i know how to setup a server i can just do it at his place. but one more thing when i launch the RunSrvSM.bat it launches sucessfully... i think. but when i launch the Maniaplanetserver.exe it comes up with

No match settings file
Server not started: no ServerName specified.
Server not running, exiting.

should i worry about that or will i just use the .bat server.

You use the .bat because it provides the extra command-line options the server needs to know what DedicatedCfg file and which MatchSettings file to use when it runs. If you just double-click the ManiaPlanetServer.exe, it doesn't know which files to use when running.

If you're running the dedicated server on the same machine as a game client, make sure you launch the dedicated server first, so it can use ports 2350, 3450 like you forwarded; then launch your game...

If you don't want to worry about that, also forward 2351, 3451 - because the server will auto climb to the next port if your game client is already running and using up 2350, 3450.

EDIT: The .bat file runs the ManiaPlanetServer.exe. I mention that because your last post made it sound like you might think they are two different executables.

so i see it on the server list and there is no mode. and its not royal its a blue vs red mode.
i can figure this out tomorrow i hope im really tired so thanks again man if you have the solution post it here and ill get it tomorrow

What Zone are you in and I'll try to join it.
What is the name of the server?

Go into Shootmania Storm and filter it so only the servers in USA Minnesota are showing and it should be something like The Crowing 60k Royal

i was in it just a second ago and then i shut it down now i cant see it anymore

Yeah you will only see it up while the ManiaPlanetServer.exe is running.

If you put it up again I can try to join real quick.
