Yeah some things need a push, I get that. But for Elite now, since it has an active esportscene it needs to be treated a bit different. Especially after the release since a release version really should be more or less done it would be very offputting for players to get forced into playing with some gamechanging new feature.Hylis wrote:It depends on the type of features, progressive jump and denial of rockets would have been harder to test with option. The penetrating laser would be easier to have feedback without forcing it because it affects less the basic gameplay and the trainings, but then, it is less a trouble to set it to 'true' by default. Again, the goal is to make the best game as possible, as fast as possible. Until then, we should not doom ourselves into a static situation, but try to react as fast as possible on our side as well. It is harder depending the moment of the studio and the priorities, but this type of things can be done quickly.
haha for the quote sadzealot ^_^
But p-laser shouldn't be that big of a deal really. I just hope you guys at Nadeo do have a flag for it and don't just add it. As long as its a setting its fine and you can leave it on as default. The thing is that then those playing competitively will still be able to turn it off.
It might work in Elite but just in todays, ESL cup we would probably have had a really cheesy attackround on Rust. Our attacker shot a guy next to pole and behind him ~20m his remaining teammate was rushing to get to pole and help defend. That could have been a +2 with penetrating laser and would leave a real bitter taste in the loosers mouth. Mine to tbh. Such cheesy gameplay just has no place in Elite if it wants to be a serious esport (imo).
