It looks like my ISP will not unblock mp05.maniaplanet.com, is there some workaround I can use? Like telling the game to connect through an alternate server?

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do there.
I'm not sure if Nadeo can do something, and you might need to wait until Aliona is back from her vacation.

So there's no way to make the game use mp04.maniaplanet.com or some other server? I am using google DNS but I don't think that's an issue. I'll try real quick switching to my ISP's DNS to see if that resolves the issue. I don't really know what the issue is but they ignored me when I emailed them and when I called, they said they don't block anything (which is a lie as they blocked sites in the past before and even admitted it when I found one that was blocked).

Nope, even with ISP's DNS it doesn't work, actually a bit slower somehow.

Have you tried to look in host file? Maybe some antivirus for god know what reason put mp5 ip there?

Regarding the hosts file, I also tried it myself, it does not work to redirect the IP of mp05 to e.g. mp02.
The server your profile is bound to is saved in the profile and can't be changed from your side.

In the past it happened that some gateways or ISP were blocking mp05, and possibly between your direct ISP and Nadeo one or more of the network providers are still blocking it.

I believe my ISP directly is blocking it as they download a list of things to block.

Well, I just bought this game after playing the demo a while back. Low and behold I'm having the exact problem that others are having. So let me save us some trouble. Here are the trace routes and other BS you look for.

What now? I have an account, it shows up on the profile page. however, when it attempts to start the game it gives me the 12029 error code. I try to log on through http://www.maniaplanet.com and I get as far as the log in screen and I get that the server "mp05.maniaplanet.com" "This page can’t be displayed". And finally, yes internet explorer *which I DONT use) is online.

It worked with your demo account.
Did you change something since your purchasing? Did you try to change your network settings or install Hamachi? What is your maniaplanet login? Did you upgrade your demo account or create a new account?

Good you checked already IE functionality, this is the usual suspect with the 12029 error.
Still its default settings can be altered after some Windows updates, it would be wise to reset them.

Also make sure the firewall and your antivirus security suite is not blocking the access from ManiaPlanet.exe and ManiaPlanetLauncher.exe to the outer world, also check if especially the ManiaPlanet servers are not blocked.

The strange thing is that you can't ping many of the ManiaPlanet servers, and the traceroute stops directly at your local machine. This looks more like a blocking or wrong configuration on your side.

Please make sure your hosts file is not altered and does not contain any active redirections.

Which DNS are you using in your local network? Is it setup automatically from your provider in your router/modem and are you using DHCP?
Or did you configure everything manually?
Which connection type are you using? Direct network access, or WLAN?

It is strange that your host has the address home routers typically have, or are you using a PC as router directly?

Additionally to Alinoas question regarding Hamachi, another cause might be the usage of Mumble or other permanently active chat and file transfer applications.

Well what a surprise, a dev that gets back to you quickly...and with some advise with substance.Thank you. I apologize for my tone, but I've been hit with quite a few games that were sold as complete while in their beta form.
I will try what you suggested, and post my results here. These games have been on my radar for a while and when I picked up all three and couldn't play any of them, I was a little "miffed".
