Well, personnaly, I need something like 5min max on a map to remember the items location, juste that most of players don't take a look at them during the warm-up, and then complain because they don't know the items location ^^

I don't think that this is a good idea, at least for the timers, this would destroy the gameplay as kremsy and ReYd3n said, and for the placeholder, well, just take ~5min to look the items positions, you will not need placeholders ;)

I always look for the items. My teammate too.... Cant remember it. :oops:

Placeholders : Yes plz
Timers : In option (enable/disable) and not a timer with the numerical remaining time (0'45" for example) but more like a "clock" just above the placeholder (like in UT4 for those who are playing the pre-alpha)

Some other suggestions for Combo:
- Fix the streched icons ( the long list on the right ) because it looks very unfinished and it's simply not ok.
- Remember my choice when I choose to hide/show timers/list. It's very annoying if every new round/map they reappear.
- Restyle this list so it has a ShootMania-look. It's part of the HUD but it has a different style. Why?
- When you are spectating a player and he dies he will have to wait until the timer hits 0 so he can respawn. Well, if that timer is 15 or 20s, then you , as a spectator , are just looking at the top of the map and missing all the action. I imagine this to be véry annoying for streamers. Maybe auto-switch to the other player automatically because the other team is now hunting him ( = mega interesting )
I missed a lot of actions because of this.


Remarks:
- On the screenshot you can perfectly see how ugly this game is. It has a mix of 27styles:
1. ShootMania Hud & Sidebars.
2. ManiaControl Plugin.
3. Pixelated hud elements.
4. Blue 3D buttons.
5. Semi-Transparent black backgrounds with streched icons.


I might be asking much, but it looks horrible at the moment. It can & should be fixed quickly.

I think he wants a Combo specific speccing option for the mode, so he's right to do it here.

Other modes have their mode specific speccing mode on 0 (zero) on the numpad.
Elite will always show you the attacker.
BattlePro always shows you one of the currently attacking team's players.
SpeedBall always shows you the ballcarrier.
Those are specifically implemented in the mode.

Buttons 1-6 (or choosing someone through the scoretable) will always show you the player of your choice.

Now what Dreammy wants, is that you can choose a specific player to spec, and when he dies and waits to be respawned, instead of going into free cam (7) like he shows on the screenshot, the script intervenes and shows you his teammate, whose survival is now crucial for the specced team not to lose. It makes a lot of sense.

I know that in SpeedBall, when you spec one person, you will see the ball carrier until your guy is respawned. Now that could mean two things:
1) between elimination and spawn the scripted zero mode kicks in, and therefore shows you the ball as usually
- it is specifically scripted, that when the guy you watch despawns, you see the ball carrier

If 1) then sorry Dreammy, standard cam (zero) is not sufficient for what you are looking for
If 2) it should be possible to specifically script the cam, to switch to the teammate after elimination

My guess is 1)
but if someone with more expertise can tell us more, that would be nice.

I think novationx suggestion is valid for ShootMania generally, as bunkers are not only a specialty of COMBO.
The slow motion camera view should stay inside a bunker if a player is eliminated there, and not move to birdseye view, this I also understood without your explanation ;)
I'm wondering if this is a issue with (or if it could be solved with) media tracker? "Elimination track effect" or so.

bunker = indoor map?

Anyways, Urinstein, my bro, understood me perfectly and I can repeat what I want in 1 sentence :
--> We are missing the CRUCIAL action in this awesome mode when a player dies.

The solution is easy : Switch to the teammate. :thumbsup:
Nobody needs to explain how, because its an original title so NADEO has to do it and they know how best.

It's these little things that make a good mode an awesome mode.

For me this is an urgent fix. The mode is unstreamable while NADEO is paying Paragon to host cups :? Just saying...
Better combo = better cups = more players = more streamers = more viewers. It's all connected & thats how I think.

The problem with media tracker is, that it has no information about the script, ergo it doesn't know who the teammate of a player is. Only the script knows those things.

Also "Shootmania in general" has no knowledge about who is in which team in Combo mode. You really need to do it script side.
