I'm definitely not mad, but I do like to choose accurate vocabulary.
Ok... let's revisit what Hylis wrote...

On record things, they are still valid, they were made in MP3 and are still in MP3. They were made with different official try rules and with different physics, [...]
Now let's look at what you've written...

You don't get to say that you made changes to remove some low speed slides and then imply the physics have not changed.
He clearly stated, that the physics were indeed changed...
Hylis wrote: ↑10 May 2017, 09:08
About gravity, I changed nothing about it.
He just challenged the fact, that the gravity in the environment was changed.
And as a side note: I haven't even played MP4 as of yet, so I don't have an oppinion either way, but if you insist on using accurate vocabulary...

I've got a very strong feeling this was NOT tested!
Oh ok

Yeah, I get that. But the underlying point is that they're implying there have been no changes and that we all are experiencing some placebo effect if we perceive there to be changes.
There have been adjustments, there is no question, that's my only point.
I don't know if you have changed physics, controls algorithm or another things. But the fact, is now, the control feels different. And this, destroy many olds tracks and records, from a game with 5 years.
I don't say that you don't update the game. No. This is one of the features that make great Nadeo. But there should be better ways to do it: Ex, do new tiles like plataforms and lets old canyon as legacy, or another option that is not so extreme.

Hang on a second there edk.
If you're going to make *statements on my behalf - or anybody else's, please keep it nice mate.

I've played for about one hour since I updated yesterday and, although some features are obviously different, I am now getting used to it/ adjusting my brain's perception and it doesn't really seem so bad to me. Yes, the car sound is weak, the 'drift' sound would work better as a simple braking sound, with a more severe one for actual drifting.
I've made a quick map in Canyon and the Editor does have a couple of issues (which I posted earlier) but it works quite well and does not take forever to process a video.
I do like the changed boost arrows - they reflect a more real-world vision.
Also, as a keyboard player, I find drifting is much less clumsy AND my times are improving ... really!
Getting old, forgetting most of what I ever learned !
My name is Nighthawk. The 4571 used to be my IQ.
wait untill you guys see valley lol
they cannot say there wasn't any gravity change..
just tried one of my latest valley maps (made on MP3, droven on MP4) my ghosts flies like 30% higher at the same speed ruining all runs, not able to pass the start section.
yet the canyon doesn't feel that bad imo just the low speed slides are terrible now. I used to build maps entirely based on low speed slides. wich became my brand of mapping.. it is pretty hard right now to find the right feel again, yet after some time this might work.
if they just imlplant a gravity script option to choose between MP3 physics and MP4 physics this would solve loads of things (on all enviroments)
even will unlock more possibilities for creativity.
and I do not think this is going to be that much of work..
Maniaplanet alsready got the Script thing in the editor. They can simply Copy paste the old script and implent this in the script function. allowing us to switch between both physics (like in the experimental features menu) if I'm correctly the airmapping, blockmixing and objects embedding work on the same principle of scripts. (not sure since I know less to nothing about scripts, yet this sounds something logic to me)
Maybe your jump is not possible because some blocks (transition mostly) have been modified and smoothered. (And I think that's why Canyon E04 is the only map to have been updated)
There's plenty of guys in team WM that likes the new update, myself included as kboard players, but maybe I'm not concidered good player by edk. There's also some that doesn't like the new update, but the hype within the team with solo mode by thousands has kept us very motivated and i can probably talk to a lot when I say the game hasn't been as fun as it is now since 2011/2012. Great update imo
This is all I'll say about it, then I should make myself scarce because I've more than worn out my welcome.
The low speed drift worked when you drive smooth. If you were on keyboard then you were screwed. You couldn't tap, tap, tap and get faster. The steadier and smoother you were with analog, the more speed you would get. There was a feel to it and the better you get at it, then the better the whole game felt. This was removed. Not completely except for on longer drifts, and it's not the same on shorter drifts either. That means the feel of the game has changed. The need to drive as smooth is nerfed and you can get away with tap, tap, tapping more. So, does it feel terrible now? No, ofc not. But it does feel nerfed, because it is nerfed. The skill ceiling has been effectively lowered and the drifting is easier to get all the speed out of.
I'd argue that this also affects most of the drifting, even slightly in mp4. Intuitively, it would not make sense to adjust the drifting mechanisms and not have it bleed over into all of the drifting. It simply doesn't require the same level of smoothness. Granted, being smooth pays off still, but not quite as much as it used to. The feel of the game has been altered and yes it's immediately obvious. It feels slightly duller because that really fine control has been tempered. Keyboard users should be happy though.
If you really can't tell a difference, then yeah, probably not someone I would consider good at the game. I'm not saying I'm the best because there are others that have no issue putting me lower on the pedestal. After all, my better attributes with the game are patience, effort, and simply that the game is enjoyable.
But yeah, that's that. It's kind of a smack in the face when someone's trying tell you that it's a figment of your imagination. Makes me feel like the developer needs to lay off the maryjane. Besides, there were never any complaints about the drifting, so why mess with a formula that has proven to be your second best environment? Why force tens of thousands of tracks to be redone and make hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of replays worthless on dedimania? Why not fix stuff people wanted fixing, like cuts. Why not take the opportunity to patch up the official tracks, get rid of some of these ridiculous cuts, and just do a simple ladder reset.
Anyway, I'm done here, because I'm most likely well on my way towards getting banned. (And I've not been on the best of terms with the mods/staff here before so that's probably a couple strikes still hanging over my head.)
Look, if you have fun great, that game is still flipping good. I'm still going to have fun playing this for awhile. But it is different, make no mistake, and it would have been much more respectful to go about it with the community a bit more in mind.
