[edit] guess it´s this one viewtopic.php?t=43803

Thanks for putting these links xrayjay :D ,

yup Hylis said something about that but I think it's in the first interview which should be 2 years ago or maybe less.
In this video interview, Hylis doesn't talk a lot about Trackmania's future but on the "marketing" perspectives he found and Nadeo should follow for now, as you said, it's really vague :?

For now we have not a lot of informations to debate on, hope some announcement will be made maybe for the launch of the TMGL, or E3 at least ^^

I assume that Nadeo's next project is for the next-gen consoles, so let's wait for E3

My personal guess it's Trackmania 3 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X holidays 2020 or early 2021

You're maybe right, after all TM Turbo and Maniaplanet (I guess...?) were announced at the E3

However, personnaly I do not think that Nadeo will continue on next-gen consoles after the partial fail of Turbo but who knows ?

"Fail of Turbo" you what? Turbo was a massive success on consoles.

I wanted to say that there are not a lot of people playing the game anymore.

Just because people aren't playing it anymore now doesn't mean they didn't make a big profit off of it. Considering Turbo's success on consoles, I think they are very likely to do another console game.

Everyone defines success differently. Acquiring money is important, without doubt. And Trackmania Turbo probably did a very job to get some income. But what is the benefit of having a solid, good income for a few months if the common mistakes are repeated over and over again in the long run? This has been said a billion times already... There is no greater benefit if the small TM community is spread over plattforms. The community is already very divided due to Trackmania's game concept of giving the players the possibility to create custom game modes and titlepacks. What we need is one central platform. Personally, I would develop TM only for PC players... not for consoles. I know people hate restrictions and limitations because I already imagine the posts and comments in my head "We need TM for consoles!". But what is the point of having the freedom of choice between PC & console if each platform doesn't survive for a long time? Just a random thought: What if Nadeo invested their effort and resources on Maniaplanet? I mean, console games are not the only way to gain money. If Nadeo would have focussed on MP instead of developing a console game, then 1) MP would have been improved massively in a way that more people join and stay the game and 2) more people buy the game because it has a bigger community (because of the improvements by having more resources)...

Excuse me if I wrote this in a "harsh" way... I just wish the best for my favourite game studios. ^^

Then I would argue that the release of Lagoon on Maniaplanet wasn't as big of a success as Turbo was. Maniaplanet as a platform might not be the priority in the long run. It'll probably be new concepts/games like Turbo, which may or may not exist in Maniaplanet!

Profitability is important for Nadeo to keep existing, so if they just did what the community wants and it happens to cause them a loss, then it's probably not a good idea.

With that said, I don't know exact numbers of course, so I don't know if they have a profit or loss on anything, I'm just assuming by looking at the big picture. I might be wrong, Lagoon on Maniaplanet may have sold enough to make a profit, I don't know. (Steam Spy says "Owners: 0 .. 20,000", which is a very rough estimate.)

Excuse me Miss. As I read your post a couple of times, I recognized your "defensive" writing style. I guess I was too offensive and "attacking" with my last post. It's actually so easy to lose control about a passionate topic where you want to convince somebody else... grr

Anyways, back to topic:

To be honest, I like the concept of those "Nadeo Turbo" games . They focus on the right places, in my opinion. Turbo reminds me a bit of Trackmania Nations Forever. Turbo focussed on the "major-target-group" alias the "players" by providing a nice and simple layout, a nice multiplayer infrastructure (for local especially!), an intuitive Map Editor and some cool features like the "double-player-controlling" where two players control one car. Well, TMT didn't offer any great creative features like Maniaplanet... but the overall package is much better. Clean, simple and some cool gadgets.

So, if Nadeo intends to leave Maniaplanet, then I would love to see a golden mix of Turbo and Maniaplanet. The good aspects of Turbo (Simplicity, Multiplayer) and the good aspects of Maniaplanet (Creative freedom). But a reduced creative freedom of MP. Otherwise it gets messy and chaotic again.. the opposite of the desired characteristic "simplicity" from TMT hehe.
But I wouldn't like to see a new "platform / game concept" being released while keeping Maniaplanet... We need to decide :)
