MLEPP (based on ManiaLive) runs fine here. It meets all my needs. It's easy to add/remove MX tracks ingame, to setup your own musicbox and to re-arrange the various widgets on the screen (via .ini files). And it runs very stable on my Debian-based server, have not encountered any crash or lagginess yet.
Can't say anything about the other controllers so they may work fine as well.

My general 2 Cents: As others already said everybody seeking for "the-one-and-only" controller should try the various solutions themselves to see whether they meet their requirements. And don't forget to check them back once in a while in the future since all of them will definititely improve over time!
