Hah, well, if you want it, I'll give it to you.

I used the ingame painter to do the car itself, but I did extensive editing on the DetailsIllum and DetailsDiffuse files. If you have questions (and if you use GIMP) I can help you out

Oh.

Well then...what you need to do is go to C:\Programdata\Maniaplanet\PacksCache\TMCanyon_HD.zip. Then go to Canyon\GameCtnObjectInfo\Vehicles and copy the CanyonCarDefaultSkin to you desktop or somewhere you'll remember it.

Those contents are all you need (plus the Maniapark Template) to get started with your skinning.

And even if you use photoshop, I can still help you out with what you need to do--I just may not know the names of all the buttons and things--given some things are named differently from Photoshop to GIMP--and PS is much better at handling alpha channels...

How I did it? You have to use two files, the DetailsDiffuse.dds file (for the color change) and the DetailsIllum.dds file (for the glow). What you're looking for is the semi-thin silver strip that's in between the trunk and the chassis (on the Diffuse file). It is, by default, the same gray as the rest of the metal around the car. Originally, I thought it was just a strip above the trunk, but when I recolored it, it recolored all the seams, so I decided to go with it.

Here's the steps I use in GIMP (If you have Photoshop it might be a bit different).
1) Put a box around the strip (as precisely as possible)
2) Fill that box with the "Multiply" interpolation (so it keeps the shading it was previously)
3) Open the DetailsIllum.dds file.
4) Copy the DetailsDiffuse.dds file as a new layer onto the DetailsIllum.dds file.
5) Cut out whatever changes you made from the diffuse file that you'd like to make glow in the illum file. In this case, that rectangle.
6) Go to your illum layer and paste it in. I do it this way so that it lines up exactly with the diffuse file. The two are copies of each other, and so if they don't line up, your glows won't, either. (If anybody knows a quicker way of doing this, lemme know.
7) Edit the alpha channel to make it glow. So, with the box still selected, go into the alpha and make it gray. The darker, the more it glows.
8) Delete the un-needed extra diffuse layer from your illum file, save them, move them into your skin file of choice, and you're good to go
Any questions? Ask away, and I'll be happy to help.

Try as I may, I just cant get my head around TM2 ... I cant find DetailsDiffuse.dds or the DetailsIllum.dds anywhere

C:\Programdata\Maniaplanet\PacksCache\TMCanyon_HD.zip. Then go to Canyon\GameCtnObjectInfo\Vehicles
If you have Win7 this is your path

Well it isn't finished yet, especially since it is only my second try on skinning ever (so don't laugh too much

), but for now i use the skin like it is.

what is there to laugh about? It's nice and clean, also very good for a 2nd try. My 2nd try wasn't even that good

Well, for example the very big pixels in the noise on the blue ground, it was planned to be much much smoother, finer. But when i put the skin into the game, it looked suddenly like this, like a low resolution, with all those pixel like colorchanges.
It was totally unplanned, and i still have no idea why it worked like this, but somehow i liked the effect.
Anyways, thanks for those kind words, they're appreciated *grins*
