Figured I'd check up on this forum after several months of avoiding it.. And..

Absolutely no change.. absolutely no progress.. and even worse, absolutely no more community involvement.

We had a great thing going in tmn/tmf.. even with the incredibly poor involvement on Nadeo's side, we had a thriving community that wanted nothing other than to evolve the TM experience. Now, it seems like nobody wants to get involved at all -- content to stick with TMF (paid or not), and decidedly against the thought of 'porting' many of those great community features over to TM2.

It's not as if the community hasn't been voicing its discontent for many months.. It's not as if we haven't always been there to note all the problems and inconsistencies with the new MP system, offering many suggestions as to how to fix this broken complex..

It just seems that nobody at Nadeo is really listening -- or even worse, cares.. Can anyone at Nadeo even bother to respond?

I can't let you say there is no more community involvement. Just look at the cups or contests organized by players. Many community websites as Mania Exchange, ManiaPark, Maniacreative, TM Actu (and so on and so forth, I could go on) have a great activity.
Of course, there is much activity on Forever (released in 2008 and United in 2006) than on TrackMania² Canyon (released in 2011). However, this is the first environment of maniaplanet and this is also the beginning of a new adventure. So we can hope that more and more nice stories will happen.
Nadeo and Nadeo Live are working on MP 2.0, ShootMania Storm. New TrackMania² contents will be added and we hope to start the tests soon :)

Hey Alinoa! Welcome back, and congratulations of course!

I know.. I hate being so negative, but many months after the initial release we are still suffering the same problems -- most importantly, memory consumption of the dedicated server.

I simply can not justify running a TM2 server.. Upon startup, it's already consuming several hundred MB of ram, and without any activity at all just keeps rising to the point my entire setup crashes (at well over a half a gig of ram consumption).

I wouldn't be so ticked off if any Nadeo dev at least acknowledged it as a dire problem, and made a simple statement promising that it will be taken care of (eventually). I understand everyone is busy on MP 2.0, ML, SM, and all the other Nadeo projects -- but it's been more than 6 months since the initial release, and we still have not been provided a finished game and a functional dedicated server.

Between the lack of polish on the game and being unable to run a server, I just can't justify trying to convince any of my players to try TM2:Canyon; and my discontent is only multiplied by an utter refusal to fix these many problems before just moving on to developing the next MP release (which leads me to believe future releases will still be rife with the same issues).

In the meantime, I just continue to check in here every few weeks hoping that eventually all these problems will be fixed, and I can finally resume my involvement in the TM community.

They have your money now, so why would they care?

Looks like you're not really getting involved also.

first you are basically saying, that nobody does a thing, and then you say:
"I'll be doing nothing untill the problems are fixed".
Maybe its time to get involved :)

Did you read http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic.php?f=293&t=7819? Making videos where the wheels didn't spin? Using unfinished ManiaScript? ... i can't and i wait until that's fixed...

hi,
I have a question about replays saved on my server.
I know the validation replays and when they are needed and how to activate or deactivate.
My question goes to the GReplays and Vreplays saved in Userdata/Replays/..
Its cosumption on one of my servers is as follwn:
GReplays 139 mb / 508 files and VReplays 5 mb / 883 files

the replays are really crap and useless for me.
Is there a way to deactivate them?

btw. for now I don´t know if this is a dedicated side config or controller.
I use xaseco.
on french forum i found a thread with something about greplays and vrepays,
but this is to hard to understand.

thx

edit:
oups, whatever, this maybe helps another ppl who have same problem and search for it.
solution the GReplays and VReplays is in xaseco/dedimania.xml
<keep_best_vreplays>true for save or false for not</keep_best_vreplays>

As you found yourself, they are stored by the dedimania plugin of the script (xaseco2 here), only for new top1. So they are not directly linked to the dedicated, you can delete them if you want.

Keeping them can be usefull to view the greplay, but also to check that it has not been cheated. you can validate vreplay or view greplays manually from the edit/replays of the game. They are also stored on dedimania side.
