Trackmania² Valley Released!

Re: Trackmania² Valley Released!
If TM was only Stadium, then I know a hell of a lot of guys who wouldn't ever play again, including me. I don't want a 1 dimensional game, that's the complete opposite of what Trackmania is about.

Re: Trackmania² Valley Released!
Sure we would have liked to make more blocks for Stadium, like for any other environment. I would like to say that Stadium got five main release so far: ESWC, Nations, United, United Forever & Stadium. And with Maniaplanet, it could bring more possibilities in the future as well, as well as players from Forever.
Re: Trackmania² Valley Released!
Any chance of some proper antialiasing being added to TM2? Valley is so beautiful, its ruined by all this flickering
The only good solution is to downsample, which kills my fps
also, to them stadium players that think stadium is the be and end all of trackmania
Id say valley > stadium <3

Re: Trackmania² Valley Released!
Its not that I disliked Canyon, It just wasn't what I hoped for. And looking at the servers I don't think I'm the only one. I think TM francise should be more of a crazy approach with a less serious character. Not that TM2 is not crazy and wild, but just another approach. Ik think thats why people loved Stadium that much. So I'm not saying make a new stadium, I was just hoping for more of a combination between humor, wakky, crazy blocks, mixxed with a serious touch, if you know what I mean. More between serious cars and micromachine cars. A little like stadium. I think thats what people loved about stadium and thats what differentiates Stadium from the rest of the franchise.Hylis wrote:Sure we would have liked to make more blocks for Stadium, like for any other environment. And what I noticed is that if someone has a more negative respons to TM2, forum fanboys start atacking them. I don't think its realistic to say: "people are playing in offline mode, thats why the servers are empty". Yeah offcourse!! I also hope for a better TM2, but we must stay realistic. Even if its coming to you hard!

Just saying!
Re: Trackmania² Valley Released!
Some defend Nadeo in any case, hoping for a beta key when the next title is about to be released. Obviously it didn't work a lot with Valley.
I can't fully agree with you about Stadium being the only "crazy" environment. If you look at TMO environments, they were crazy as hell. I even think Stadium was already more serious, a sort of first step to the TM2 environments. The style of the game changes, like the style of the GTI cars changed from crazy small sportcars to upmarket posh vehicles over the years. It's hard to tell if the evolution is good or bad, it depends more on personal tastes than on any kind of objectivity. But it might explain why some "old" players feel disoriented.
By the way, i like Valley very much more than Canyon and Stadium and it seems this new one is likely to make me come back after one year of alternative presence in the game. The physics of the car is interesting and feels more subtle than Canyon, and the blocks fit it better. It will allow funny races and i hope a long life for it. I think Nadeo should be acknowledged for the good job, congratulations!

Re: Trackmania² Valley Released!
My fav so far is Canyon. In fact, since getting Valley, I've gone back to Canyon because I can do it! I've reluctantly had to ditch Valley beause it's too hard for me. I've tried wheel, XBox controller and keyboard (not at the same time!) and spent about six hours on the second of the dirt tracks, but can't get gold. For me, it's not about practice, it's about being old and badly co-ordinated.
I'd settle for just getting silvers, except that this means I can't access many of the tracks. That's a bit galling since I paid for them. I guess a rogue save game file will pop up on the internet sometime.
That said, I love the series and will definitely buy whatever comes out next!

Sorry for being positive, didnt knew i was a forum fanboy by saying that a lot of players are playing the offline modejojoba007 wrote:And what I noticed is that if someone has a more negative respons to TM2, forum fanboys start atacking them. My main point was that if you only not like Valley because there are not that many players, you can do a lot of it yourself by promoting it more or organise tournaments, matches etc etc or tell friends, family etc etc about the game. Then again thats just my opinion. If there are other things you dont like about Valley i can imagine that, because you just like the gameplay or you dont. I know some players who stopped playing Valley because they said: "This is nothing for me, i like Canyon or Stadium more". Personally i like the gameplay but thats just me and my opinion. A reply later you told us that you were just hoping for more of a combination between humor, wakky, crazy blocks, mixxed with a serious touch, if you know what I mean. More between serious cars and micromachine cars. So that made my question about your change of opinion answered.

Re: Trackmania² Valley Released!
I agree with Romain, TM1 was indeed more like micromachines to my eyes, with Stadium being the less like that, in term of gameplay (angle of curve) But TM2 is not TM1 and TM2 have a different driving engine than Stadium, which has a different one from Sunrise which have a different one from TMO. We used mainly 4 driving engines so far, with different parameters for different cars, even if we add stuff to the engine each time we do a new gameplay (Valley have the dirt/road paradigm change, a new function of deceleration on some surfaces and other specific stuff that are different than Canyon (speed at gear change, start power, ...))

You can download the tracks from mania-exchange (find tracks/nadeo tracks).inflatable wrote:I'd settle for just getting silvers, except that this means I can't access many of the tracks. That's a bit galling since I paid for them.
Another possibility without downloading all the tracks: Start Hot Seat Mode in Local Play, add a fake second player, et voilà , you can select all tracks.
Thus, you can't drive official races, of course, but you would need gold to start an official race anyway.

Play in offline mode, local play, single map.
