I don't know why everybodys saying "ManiaPlanet is so bad" and "I hope they get rid of ManiaPlanet". The MP system is a GREAT thing IMO, if SM & TM were splitted both games got much less players. Let's take Riolu, even he's a TM players I see him often play siege.

Fully agree. MP gives the users so much control of the games. Everyone can show their creativity. From track makers to streamers. From server owners to mobile app developers :D

Sincerely, I prefer TM as a standalone game. When I want to play TM, I run TM, and when I want to play shootmania I run shootmania. Is easy. If I want mods, I go to maniapark and for tracks, mania exchange Sincerely I don't like title packs. When I start-up Manialplanet, in the menu I only see crappy title packs that I don't want to play. I know there are good titlepacks (my favourites are TrackMania plus, RAID and Stadium F1), but 90% ManiaPlanet is full of crapy tilte packs that only adds some tracks. The main problem in ManiaPlanet is that is very disorganized. I don't want to be offensive to everybody that makes title packs, but that's my opinion.

PD: I'm very hyped with TMT.

The problem is it might be confusing for newcomers.
Like they will probably buy first TMT, but they won't see the point in buying MP envis -> not more competitors, not a huge community growth

Really happy to see a new TM, one that looks great. And really happy to see the guys at Nadeo realized their mistake and put all the enviroments together in a game again.

But if the Steam page is right and this requires the POS that is Uplay, then sorry but no, this will be the first TM that I don't buy.

StarForce was bad enough, thank you very much :x

I thought that you need to run uplay once to authorize, but I'm not sure about that.

But still, this is ofcourse in no way comparable to starforce. These platforms aren't intrusive at all compared to what some people experienced with their cd rom drive.

I did techsupport at that time, and it was a huge problem for some cdrom drives as they weren't meant to read out of bounds the way starforce required them to do. Some drives went fubar, but others were fixed by adding a new firmware, it's just that the newer generation was adapted to that form of reading.

I realize that this is not something an copy protection should require and it's not userfriendly, but the problem was not as widespread as people made you believe. Nevertheless It was bad enough for those players affected and we all got better because of it, "softer" drm managers came allong and cured allot of the hassle. We're luckily now past the time where cd copy protection ruled the gaming industry, well except for consoles but that has always been a thing, except for when you download.

At first I also highly objected against that every publisher wanted to release their own platform. For me, I didn't feel the use to have all this software running permanently. And the simple dumb answer is, you don't have to.

But just everyone has it, and I learned to see it positive. Like every game is available digitally nowadays, it's cool that you have an account for every publisher's exclusive games. For me it mentally guides me what games I own and where.

You can't blame a publisher to use their own busines model and practices and distribute it on their own platform. Otherwise Steam is going to have a monopoly. I thought was more efficient to have steam only, but then, steam controls all and that's not good. You should let the market of "digital" a little breathing room also, and so origin and uplay offer their players great games and have a refund policy... If it wasn't for origin, I don't think Steam would have followed suit. Origin was also first offering internal streaming services. So there's a dynamic that causes the platforms to compete and thus become better for the user.

You're left out if you are a blizzard or a star trek online/perfect world fan. Because you'll have to use battle net and PW's platform which name I don't remember rightnow.

Ironicly GOG started out as some sort of a replacement for direct2drive where you just download your game and run it without hassle. Now they have galaxy. It might look like a hassle but if you see it positively, it helps you organize all your games.

I've got origin and uplay and steam, and battle.net. I got used to just running steam permanently and the rest is run when I play dead space 3 and consorts, and closed when I'm done.

Congrats Nadeo. Or maybe I could say, congrats to Nadeo+Ubisoft. I guess some Ubisoft guys join the team looking at the creative direction of Turbo looks really well done. Just by comparing HUD/menu-interfaces of Turbo with 100% nadeo products

I'm pretty confident that TMT will succeed as "a game to play in living room", looks really fun on the trailer. I feel the fun hype I had with TMS/TMO, and I didn't have on TM2 with too much serious business.

The best thing you seems to have done is that TMT looks really to have its own identity and ambiance. Turbo ambiance.. Sorry but in my opinion TM2 actually have no ambiance at all and it's will never be the case due to Maniaplanet platform. You are more free to have an overall ambiance with a standalone game, with maniaplanet you have the same interface everywhere, no ambiance, all is neutral with no taste.

I also hope in secret that when you tried to change the gameplay of Stadium/Canyon/Valley for turbo versions, you luckily made them more challenging and interesting. Like the 2-wheel driving on Speed.

I don't care about Maniaplanet but I can understand the disapointment of guys who support it since Trackmania turbo felt way more the Crazy Trackmania Spirit than TM2.

Cibermix, I agree. And that ambiance feeling of a recently terraformed planet is quite volountary, exactly to let the other ambiance build on top of it, like Trackmania Turbo. Trackmania Sunrise was more about ambiance than United as well, in that same principle, but it stayed in United for both the memory of Sunrise and the smallest place and static system parts that Maniaplanet can benefit yet. And it's true that the ambiance of TMT is quite cool!
