Just ran into the problem that LAN isn't possible anymore myself too..
Sucks if your router doesn't support NAT loopback.

I have to add something, Itried to overlook it, but in the end, it is just one of those things that I have to say something about as petty as it may be.
The new menu sounds really get on my nerves and I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed the trackmania unique countdown to race where it sounded like the door open chime on a car. I originally thought that was cool, no one ever done that before that I am aware of. And now I realized that was actually a part of the enjoyment of starting a race. Please change the menu and countdown sound back to the original.

Yes me too, mostly the countdown in TM2 should be restored to the "original".

There is nothing wrong with the new countdown or menu sounds. The old sounds are great too but for anyone to have the gaul to come on here and blatantly state that they want the new sounds gone and the old ones reused in a new game is absolutely amazing to me. What would prompt you to even think that just because you like the old ones better that someone would just jump and do it straight away.
The amount of work the people at Nadeo must have done and are doing must be huge and for someone to just crap all over that and disrespect them over something as trivial as a countdown sound is just unreal. I'm all for constructive criticism and the like but this type of thing is just silly.
I also have a major gripe with the "I bought Nadeo's game for 20 quid and know I own Nadeo and they have to do whatever I say" crowd. You bought a game. You do not own Nadeo. Be greatful and try to show a modicum of respect that the people at Nadeo actually care enough about their game to respond and interact with the community in an ongoing basis.

I gave my opinion, I did not crap all over them, I even admitted that it may be petty, but just needed to say something that bugged me. I did not say one single thing about expecting Nadeo to just jump in and change anything, where did you come up with that garbage? I even said please.
Learn the difference between someone truly disrespectful and someone trying to give an opinion.
I have bought every single trackmania game, that doesn't make me own Nadeo or even think that I do, but I have the right to give my opinion and I did so in a respectful way, I did nothing wrong.

As near as I can tell, the ShootMania Storm spawn sounds were just copied over to Canyon for the start sequence. At first I thought it was interesting, but really I think these games should have their own distinct start sounds.
I wasn't that keen on the old sounds, but I do think they better fit a racing game than the new ones.
The new ones sound awesome in Storm though.

I think the new sounds fit the blue-ish maniaplanet look. If that's a good thing or not, I don't know. As posted before, the trackmania soundpack has never impressed me. I only lol'ed when I heard the snow-checkpoint sound for the first time and that's about it.
I'm getting the feeling Nadeo is hoping/waiting until the community comes up with something better.

After weeks of frustration and disappointments I had my new today when I was without internet connection for some hours, which is not uncommon in this country due to bad network. So when I could not connect, I was about to do what i used to do before, just play some ingame tracks... But to my horror, this message came up;
and the game just shut down...
Is this the way it going to be ? Thats a totally unbelievable to me for the ones of us living in area or part of the world where stable internet connection is not common..
So please Hylis, this must be changed !
