Perhaps a Tundra environment would be more ideal after all. It would still have all of the gameplay features I listed earlier, but its more general definition would allow more creativity and less hassle in the track editor. Tundras aren't always super snowy, so there would be good aesthetic variety in that regard. Tundras also tend to have less vegetation than the other environments present in TrackMania thus far, and I think it would be interesting if the scenery was more reliant on landforms than vegetation for aesthetic appeal. The environment most similar in regards to that last bit that currently exists is probably Canyon.Demented wrote:A Glacier environment would be cool in an open world game.
I'm trying to picture ways to get the most from that type of an area with TM building blocks. Obviously you would have different road types like Snow & Ice, and maybe Frozen Gravel, Dirt or Paved. It might be fun also to have some offroad blocks kind of like an Extended Terrain building tool to make some good "Crawl" or "Technical" navigation areas.
I can picture an area like that with a "CTF" type game mode where the map is open and rugged and you have a Start point and a Goal point and the objective is to find a way to to get to a Stranded Person, rescue them and return them to the Start point before they freeze.
Of course TM has mostly been a speed game so that might not be too popular with some people.

Snow and Ice make for fun racing in my opinion.
I hope they do one like that, although it may be a while as we are still waiting for Lagoon.

For people who want Glacier or Toundra environment or if you want to drive on ice you' can find several possibilities right now :
Glacier atmosphere with a Canyon mod : http://www.maniapark.com/ressource.php?id=742
You can also play with this mod in title pack Raid.
Drive in snow (physics don't change but dirt in Valley is compatible with "snow behavior") and ice (new material in TM² so new physics for the car) in a Taiga atmosphere (Winter mod) in Raid Valley.
Raid Valley can be donwload from ingame Store or from here : http://www.meuhmania.com/raid2/
Ice driving : https://youtu.be/XUamg1DHf-w
With mod, objects (half-pipe, ski slopes, telecabine, ice, etc) and new material (it changes the car behavior), a title pack is almost an environnement. The main difference is : it's made by players. That mean less audience, communication, popularity and also less quality even if some amateurs are doing great creations. Just have a look to TM Plus title pack, DivingDuck or Xrayjay objects, RPG or Spaï Stunt title pack and many others. So even for quality some title packs are almost an environnement

What about a WipEout style environment with actual racing ships?
Always wanted a WipEout/FZero game where you could just create your own tracks (even though I the HD/Fury maps were sick on ps3).
Shame the genre more or less died out, though Redout is doing its best to keep it alive.

This would be the end. RIP trackmaniaHaganu wrote:What about a WipEout style environment with actual racing ships?

Some of the ideas in the OP are worse tbh.i7mean wrote:This would be the end. RIP trackmaniaHaganu wrote:What about a WipEout style environment with actual racing ships?

If zero gravity ships are a bad idea, then so are boats, it's pretty much the same principle with the only difference being one in water and one floating above the ground.
Besides, anyone remember United's FZero project?
Re: What new Environment would you like to see?
We don't play with boats on Trackmania neither am I wrong ?
You can like these types of games that's not the problem i'm just saying it would totally kill TM.

Re: What new Environment would you like to see?
There are no bad ideas if enough people want them implemented and if they can be done by the developers.
An earlier game made by Nadeo (Virtual Skipper) did have boats and a track/map editor.
Maybe they should do one with a hovercraft so it can go on land and water and has small wings so with enough speed it can catch some air and glide short distances.
