i have test baked lighting on my rocks, and i came to a conclusion that engine can only pack but not generate any new UV for lightmap, it can works correct only with premaded uv for lightmap, as in many of other engines.
So currently lightmap for custom block baked in one pixel because all lightmap uv vertexes have same position "0,0,0".
Im not sure but possibly Baking engine may be quite sensitive to overlapping and may cause such troubles that we have.
For example layout packer going mad trying to pack zero-space uv that have all vertexes in same position.
Is it even possible to transfer more then one uv into custom block data? i have a suspicion that some blocks use 3 uv layouts, #1 and #2 for mixed materials, and #3 for lightmap.

_arc: even if you've been set back by the lighting issues your progress is incredible. Thank you very much for the hard work you put into this project.
After reading the manual I have one question though: is there a list of clip names that Nadeo uses for their clips?

And just to let the rest of you know: creating custom blocks now also works for me - I downloaded the newest TM2 installer and did a fresh install of everything - this time not changing the default location of the personal folder.

CoastKid: I see... Could you PM me where this lightmap UV map is being read by the TrackMania shaders? Also I have no idea how these lightmap UV's are normally made (I'm a reverser, not a game developer); could these simply be a copy of the diffuse UV's?

TheMagician: I could give you the list of all clip names, but you wouldn't be able to do anything with it. The Personal folder and the GameData folder are completely separate, referencing a GameData file from the Personal folder is not straightforward. If you used the name of an existing TrackMania clip, the game would look for a clip with that name in the Personal folder (and not find it).

From what I know lighmap UVs are often the same as diffuse UVs but on a different mapping channel.

I see. So, right now it is not possible to create clips which connect to e.g. the race track pieces.

Nope, Lightmap UVs different from Diffuse UVs, you need to prevent overlaping of uv parts , keep them flat and also keep uv position in 0 - 1 range.

First i want to thank arc for making this long waiting for coming true.... then a thanks also to the first custom blockmakers, making they`re blocks available for the community ! U r making history guys !

Then this statement;
"One restriction is that to use the blocks ingame, you need TM2Unlimiter (version 0.2.2 or newer)... This includes the person creating the blocks and anyone who wants to play a map that contains the blocks."
is not entirely true. Check out my track uploaded to MX yesterday, using the desert block.. Just download any of the replays there and either race against or watch without using TMunlimiter.....http://tm.mania-exchange.com/tracks/194 ... llycross-r
(And oc, if u race it, I would not be sad if u submit ur time also...;-) )

Its pretty funny, but same times might open for some unwanted cheat.. For example, if my CP was on the ground somewhere, and also the finish line, it would be possible to race the track without tmunlimiter and gain a lot of time by that.....

But it might also be possible to make somewhat funny track out of it.... Who knows, in this community, with so many creative minds.
