Someone suggested I post this question in here so here goes....

OK so here's the deal...I often enjoy spectating TM2 Canyon players. I have two displays. I have TM2 showing on display #2 while reading emails and stock trading charts on display #1. The problem is, when I click away to display #1(emails, etc), it impacts the sound and framerate from Trackmania 2. The sound goes mute and the framerate gets cut in half. Is there a way to keep Windows 7 from affecting the performance of TM2 and cutting my framerate in half, when I click my mouse away from the screen it's running on? A couple other racing games I play have the option of "not losing focus when clicking away" which prevents this from happening. Is there a way to do it here?

It's kind of "normal", i have the same "issue" in almost all of my games. It seems that the most part of DirectX games have a fps drop when the game lost the focus.
Hylis will be able to answer to this if needed but i don't think that's a priority at the moment (less than 15% of the total player population have a second monitor).

I think its normal that the main program thats activated gets the most memory.
I think there are special drivers for monitor support that gives both programs the memory the need.
If you think my English S*cks than you have to watch my driving and shooting :P

I also like two things running sometimes.
My solution was:
I have a high end computer that I run Games, audio and video production etc... on, and a second low end computer for internet, research, photos etc... My low end system was an investment of only about $200 (new) and well worth keeping things separate.
CPU: Intel I7-4770 64Bit @ 3.4Ghz.
Ram: 32GB DDR3
GPU: Geforce GXT 1060 6.2GB DDR5
Windows: 7 Pro SP1 64bit

I appreciate the replies but the thing is, this is something that can be easily done by the developers. Iracing for example, has an option in the ini file for this specific issue.

from the iracing forums:
Hi isamu,

Look In your My documents\iRacing\ folder

Open the app.ini file, and look for the string "set app.ini [Audio] muteWhenFocusLost=1" Change it to 0

You may also want to set app.ini [Graphics] reduceFramerateWhenFocusLost=0 as well, that will keep the framerate from dropping to 15 fps when iRacing is not in focus and you click away from the screen it's running on.
Nadeo can you please include this simple option?

It is exactly what we are doing: we try to leave the space for the community to do what she can be really good at: style, diversity, innovation, evolution etc.

Isamu

I know we can keep the sound, but for the FPS, I am not sure how much is on the side of the OS. I should ask and see for an option but I have to put it on low priority. Don't know if it will happens for technical or time reasons.
